Considering Shane throws 1 punch at a time, and three punches per round, as opposed to Margritos relentless 100 punches a round, it is very unlikely Shane stops him form accumulation.
I agree. When you first think about this fight it seems like a walkover for Margo, but the more you think about it, the better it looks. As pngo said, the real danger for Shane is likely that he wears down. If he doesn't -- and remember he was the guy who had Cotto running for the final 4 rounds of their fight -- then I think he has a very real chance at winning this bout. I don't know if either one of these guys is going to be able to hurt the other one except as fatigue may set in. Margo can throw hard shots, but he's not a huge puncher and Cotto hit Shane with pretty much everything and Shane just kept coming. I'm looking forward to the fight. I still pick Margo because of volume and youth, but I could see Shane winning this fight due to speed and skill if he fights a smart fight. Shane didn't look good against Mayorga, and he'll almost certainly have to fight a better fight than he did there to have a chance to win this bout.
Their really isn't much to Shane's offensive attack and I believe his power is and has been over rated. Unless he changes his style there's no way he hits Margo as often and clean as Cotto did much less stops the guy.
In the last 8 years, and last 15 opponents, he's only KO two. Shot Vargas Mayorga Let's think about it fellas.
WE should all know , especially now... That anything is possible in boxing! I would not bet my money on Mosely to win a UD little lone by KO . Mosely is definitely faster than Margo.. and Mosely has a great chin. Mosely is also strong, he was pushing Mayorga around in the clinches and Mayorga weighed 10lbs heavier than him on fight night. I can't wait for this fight :good I just don't wanna see SSM retired by a brutal beatdown at the hands of Margarito... but in all honestly its very possible
Your absolutely correct. After what happened in the Cotto/Margo, Pavlik/Hopkins, Darchinyan/Mijares, and Pac/Hoya fights it would be foolish to say Margo would 100% guaranteed beat Mosley. :nono I'd say about 90% :yep
Margie doesn't see Mosley winning as well....it appears he thinks he is going to walk right through Mosley. Could be a surprise in the works..... Margie took a long time off....I think it had to do with all those brain racking headshots he ate....had to let the gello set.
I give the edge to Margarito. Shane has a chance, but based on his last performance, it is a very small chance. Margarito will have too much volume and stamina for Shane at this point of his career. He won't be able to keep up, and knowing Mosley, he will certainly want to keep up and outdo Margarito at his own game plan. Unfortunately, his body won't cooperate and will give in later in the fight.
If Mosely can pull the trigger, he has a good chance based off style match ups. The only weakness Mosley has on PAPER is his inability to deal with a textbook boxer like Wright and Forrest.
Mayorga is not a Texbook Boxer either, and look how much trouble he gave Mosley in their fight earlier this year.
I have a bad feeling about this fight. Margarito is in his prime and Mosley is not. And Mosley has lacked the capacity to pull the trigger, it showed in the fight against Mayorga when he would grapple with Mayorga and neglect to use the right and left hook or the jab.
