I would rather see Mosley vs Clottey, but he would make more money fighting Mayorga. Think Clottey defense would give Mosley hell. Mosley has a better chance beating Mayorga than Clottey.
Let me say this again. Mosley is one of my favorite boxers....but he is not the same boxer he was. Mosley does not have the speed he had in the past. Mosley depends on speed to win fights, without it is not loger the same boxer, or I would say not as dangerous as he once was. Mayorga is a fighter....I cannot call him boxer.....:think but he is fast.... I would say that Mayorga's right hand is faster than Shane's and he would try to land that right hand over a slow Shane Mosley at 160 for example. Mosley, one of my favorite boxers, might lose against a caveman. As I said before....the higher the weigh....the best chances for Mayorga. You might say that Mayorga didn't do **** at 160 against Trinidad, but at the same time I can tell you that Trinidad would have kill Mosley that night as well. Mosley has the skills to beat Mayorga...I have no doubts about it...but at the same time I think that Mayorga has a shot at Mosley at 154 and I think he would defeat Mosley at 160.....why? because Mosley would be slow....he would be there for Mayo to hit the same way Cotto hit him. Watch Mosley vs Cotto and you will see that Mosley was not the same. His defense was not that great.
Mayorga is no good at any weight. He has no shot at beaing Mosley. Just look at what Oscar did to him.
Mosley needs to hang 'em up. He still seems mentally healthy and really isn't going to surpass Cotto or get a fight with Mayweather (much less win that fight). Unless he has one last big payday with DLH in mind, I can't think of any fight that he will win that will help his legacy.
Great news, Im just happy that Mosley plans to fight again.:happy But I hope its just a warm up for something biger like : 3rd fight with Oscar, Rematch with Cotto, or maby even Floyd Mayweather.
I think there are few opponents out there for Shane, but I always like to see Mayorga get a pasting, and would be happy for Shane to do it. He is too big for Hatton, whilst fights with Mayweather and DLH are unlikely. It would be good to see him against Paul Williams.
Mosley is stubborn, and would be drawn into a slugfest for a round or 2... But every other round he would be punishing Mayorga, and lets face it...Mosley have a pretty damn nice chance of winning the brawls they may get into as well...
Mayorga is everyone's favourite punching bag.His Mgr. puts him in the worst possible fights where it's a guaranteed beating. It is clear Mayorga fights strictly for a payday these days.Sugar will destroy him.
cpnasty, I just think that Sugar Shane is at a different level but Thinman is right around here... the higher the weight, the best chances Mayo has. Shane doesn't have the legs to get away as swiftly from jams anymore and he doesn't have the jab to keep him away so he would have to trade blow per blow with the slugger where it's most dangerous, inside... I wouldn't go as far as to say that Mayo would have the superior timing and technique to get his awful right hand in before Shane... Happens that Mayo gets a fair puncher's chance all the same. Again, Mayo is a stepback for Shane and he has done nothing but losing to Tito and to Hoya just like Vargas ( even fought Vargas last time around)... That Chapter in Shane's career should be over - to fight overmatched brawlers - and look for high risk/high reward matches in the welterweight division.
