    Who gives a ****?

Why doesn't Mosley do something worthwhile when he still has the skill, speed and reflexes to compete with the elite?????

Here are a list of fighters who really need to form a semi-retirement league and be treated completely separate from the rest of boxing:
    Toney
    Hopkins
    Jones
Tito - unless he gets serious and drops back to middle at least
Hoya - yes I said it, I'm getting sick of his **** too!
    Mayorga

    Anybody else got any additions????

Id rather see Mosley-Mora. Everyone has beaten Mayorga. Mayorga-Cintron/Judah would be more interesting.

why didnt they just re-arrange the zab judah fight? i was intrigued by this match up. it would have been good. zab is a fighter who people are still also intrigued by and would like to see fight even tho he's lost all his last significant fights. he remains a major player as indicated by his IBF shot!

This is a ****ing ******ed move. He will gain nothing from beating Mayorga, and if he does, by some ungodly stroke of luck lose, his legacy will suffer. He needs to go after a belt. Grabbing a belt at his age would be impressive, even if he takes it from relatively weak opposition

As a Shane fan this is disapointing. Why go back up in weight agian to fight a semi-retired guy who is shopworn, doesnt own a belt and isnt even a top ranked contender. All Mosley is getting is a world Champion on his resume, some fairly easy cash and I suppose a weird way somewhat to avenge the Forrest losses. Id rather see Shane vs Paul Williams or atleast a top 10 guy obviously not Collazo or even Quintana maybe Cintron would be a good fight and in late August not October damnit.

Big fan of both but have this small urge to see Mayorga to succeed....deep down.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't know who's behind this, but it seems like Jin Mosley is determined to ruin Shane's chances at making his last few years in the sport count.

Well this is a letdown for me.... for both guys. Ill obviously be rooting for mayorga.... but why is this fight happening? So Mosley can have a go at mayorga too?

Mosley SHOULD be fighting someone RELEVANT at 147.... mayorga hasnt even FOUGHT at 147 in quite awhile

Mayorga.... i guess mayorga is doing what he needs to do... but its obvious hes not serious. He will do his tirade.... and he knows he will lose, he wll show up, throw some bombs then get sliced up, then back in line for the next paycheck.

I dont know... dissapointed in this fight.... Not highly winnable IMO for my boy, and not very significant, and a step back... for the other.

I understand why people are somewhat dissapointed, but what else is Mosley gonna do? Cotto's schedule is booked for the rest of the year, Mayweather's 'retired', Judah pussied out, and obviously he's not gonna fight his business-partner Oscar.
So are there that many good options? And hey, fighting Mayorga in a comeback fight worked perfectly to get Trinidad's and De la Hoya's name back out there. It should do just fine for Shane, and after he's done, everybody can look for him to get right back in the mix with the big boys again.

Dude, Mosley can't make a comeback. This is his comeback. He has precious few years, at most, left as an effective fighter, and he needs to make them count. He will get very little credit for beating Mayorga. Everyone has beat Mayorga, and Mayorga is damn near shot. He needs to beat a decent, young, prime fighter and grab a belt, that would boost his legacy quite a bit, IMO. I do agree that there really aren't many other options, though. Fate screws Mosley's career up once again.

Well don't be down at the the dumps over it. Like i said, after he's done with Mayorga he'll get in there for a meaningful fight again, and even if he doesn't, it's not as if his legacy as a first-ballot HOF-er isn't secured already. No need to feel bad about his career.

I get frustarted thinking about Mosley's career because I feel that with his natural assets and skills he could have accomplished much more than he did. Doesn't help that he's also one of my favorite fighters of all time. Oh well, at least a fight with Mayorga should be entertaining, and Mayorga will be a decent name on his resume.
