i sent this email to michael rosenthal the other day- after reading his interview with shane mosley. here are his unedited answers to my questions.




quick question when you did the mosley: floyd should be ashamed interview;

it was a good read, i was hoping that you would asked the questions the others did not like:

if floyd should be ashamed- then why was you chasing to fight pacman a even smaller man?

michael rosenthal answer-pacquiao has already proven himself at 140-plus. he's also clearly carried his speed to the heavier weights.

didnt the company you work for promote the fight (sounds like someone is not a team player)

michael rosenthal answer it's refreshing that he's not a team player
also oscar fought floyd and pacman - smaller fighters should be be ashamed also?

michael rosenthal answer-floyd was the welterweight champion at the time and moving up only one weight class; plus, oscar was declining; we were critical of oscar for fighting pacquiao, although, again oscar was already declining and i think he had earned the right to have a gimmie


when side side step floyd 2 times in 06 was shane scared or hand picking fighters?


michael rosenthal answermayweather wasn't established at that time


when shane made the comment that he fights the best out there; then fighting a shot vargas 2 times and mayorga was for what?

michael rosenthal answer- good point but vargas at least was a bigger guy and an l.a. rival; so it was good promotion


paul williams has done everything but shout shane out or calling him scared yet shane refuse to fight him why?


michael rosenthal answer-shane doesn't want to fight williams; he has said so publiclly. at least he admitted it.


finally -its obvious shane trying to get paid on your way out- which is all good- shane deserves that- but cotto,clottley, williams and berto where ww champs this year- offered to fight you yet shane sits going into 2010 without a fight ..


michael rosenthal answer-as you said, shane wants the big, big fight .. none of those (except maybe williams) is a huge fight.


the deep pole of ww fighters are not ducking shane- mr rosenthal you work for the ring. how is it that cotto beats shane head to head and has beaten 3 top 10 ww while shane has only beaten 1 margarito and is ranked higher than cotto? even the math in boxing is messed up!!!


michael rosenthal answer-i dont make these decisions; it's an editorial board from the magazine. i can only guess that cotto took a hit when he was destroyed by margarito.
