Light middle, for the vacant WBA International title.

They were meeting at the halfway point from their last bouts. (Mosley at welter versus Cano and Mundine at middle versus Geale respectively)

The Mosley that fought Cano would knock out the Khan that fought Diaz, IMO.

he could sue them if in the contract the money was supposed to be in the excrow on a certain date....obviously not for the amount of the purse. but if so he would be owed some damages for wasting his time.... you can sue anyone after the fact and they still dont have to pay you....it would be incredibly bad for their business however

Man, Jin mosley must've fugged him up over good in the divorce
proceedings, otherwise why the hell is Shane still fighting. He was
earning 7-8 figure purses over a decade ago FFS. Retire Shane retire.

    you are correct.

still, the only reason i can think why mosley continued on without the money being in escrow is because he is desperate and had no other choice but hope that the money eventually came through.

he took 350k to fight cano and there is no way he turned down 500k to fight mundine

the 500 was never there nor would it ever be

There is blame on both sides.

It really sucks for the guys on the undercard, who probably won't ever see $300k paydays (let alone million dollar).

If Wharton said he would have certain percentages of the sum of Mosley's purse dribbled out by certain times, he ought to have done so.

However, it's a dick move for Mosley to go diva and go home with his already obtained three hundred grand considering a) it's obviously the minimum acceptable sum to have been set as the "pay by x date" guaranteed amount, b) he made about that much for his last bout and c) while he doesn't have a direct responsibility for them, he is part of the main event of a card on which more people than just him and Mundine were participating. His decision affects lots of people. Flipping the bird to Wharton is ultimately not just between those parties. It has a spillover and royally screws all the other boxers who put in training camps and were expecting to earn their meager paycheck, which unlike for Shane's pampered rich ass is actually putting bread in their pantries...

from the article mosley appears to be claiming that fenechs 300k was never in escrow.

Financial question marks have hung over the bout since August, when Mosley first threatened to withdraw from the fight, claiming Fenech's $300,000 had not been put into an escrow account as agreed.

"I’m supposed to fight Anthony Mundine but they’re having money problems," he said at the time.

"If they can’t put a measly $300,000 into an escrow account until we fight then how are we going to fight for the money they’re talking about?

"We’re having problems (and) I don’t know what’s going to happen. That fight is really not a go."

if they never put the 300 in then they were never going to put the 500 in and thats why gbp asked for cash which is no different than a check if you have the money which they dont.

Mundine also revealed broadcaster Main Event had stepped in with a late offer of $500,000 to keep the fight alive. The offer was rejected because Golden Boy Promotions insisted on cash, with the demand that Mosley be be paid the balance of a $1 million pay cheque.

He could have just written off the loss of the promised but not delivered balance, knocked Mundine out for a not too shabby (by his own last bout's standards) 300k, and let the boys on the undercard still all get to perform.

Fight still might be on in 6wks with Mundine taking over the promotion and money up front..... Mundine is worth a lot of money so it could be a goer

he doesnt owe the boys on the undercard anything. he didnt sign up for part of a pay check.... all this is on the promotion, shane has no fault in this....they essentially (the promotion) screwed everyone over it seems
