Vision is not a direct physical contact, punching and taking a punch is. As far as im aware, contacts or laser eye surgery isnt a drug either. By allowing Floyd to punch harder than he should be able to, he is cheating. period. Just as Snr has accused Pac of taking drugs that allows him to take punches better than he should be able to.
The one article you posted said that it's banned in some states, the other one wasn't even an article. It was an editorial. It claimed that it was banned in the majority of states and provided no sources. Furthermore, it's not even on WADA's banned substance list for usage in sports. The reason it would banned anywhere is because it could seriously harm the user of it if not administered correcty.
Mosley is tougher stylistically. Mosley will be tougher physically. Mosley will be tougher technically. Mosley is the better fighter, hands down. Pac has momentum, youth and power to his advantage over Mosley, but nothing else - Mosley is without doubt the tougher fight.
Xylocaine is not banned in 49 states, it is banned in some states. It is not banned by wada even though painkillers are in fact defined as performance enhancing drugs. It is a drug that enhances a fighter's performance. That is not debatable. A fighter with brittle hands will have a better performance with Xylocaine than without. It is not banned therefore officially, it is not cheating. However it is still an * on a fighter since without the drug, he would be worse than he is with it. Especially when comparing in a historical context where fighters from the past who had brittle hands suffered greater effects from it.
Why is it not on the banned substnace list? It does not allow him to punch harder. It allows him to punch normally. He is not increasing his strength by numbing his hands. It that were the case, it would be on the banned substance list. Do you think that Pacquiao would increase his punching power by using xylocain? The answer of course is no. That's the difference between a PED and medicine. Medicine helps those whose bodies aren't operating at a normal level. PEDs help everyone's body to perform above its optimal level.
If your face gets hit and contacts fly out, do they stop the fight and allow you to put it in? I see contact lenses like athletic sports cup - an external device. But Xylo is a drug - just like PEDs, HGH, etc. It is up to us to decide to find the what, where, how, etc. which is in flux right now. I myself is not sold why Xylo is legal during a fight. I don't see it differently from other drugs. But I am not a doctor, scientist or pharmacist. So my level understanding is as good as only as your average fight fan.
It is allowing him to punch harder than what hes capable of, what dont you get about that? Thats called enhancing your performance. Thats like saying improve glass chin to average via drugs isnt cheating. How do you define normal? Floyds normal punching power is obviously much lower than Pac's, hes trying to close the gap via xylocaine. If his hands wont allow him to hit hard, maybe he shouldnt hit hard and not resort to drugs that will allow him to hit harder. Jimp Lampley already confirmed its banned in many states, i posted 3 articles comfirming its banned. Thats enough for me.
We may define a drug as anything that alters the way the body functions. Many doctors consider food to be the most powerful drug we put into our bodies. Is eating broccoli, by this logic, a performance enhancing drug due to the fact that its rich in essential nutrients, fibre etc? Things like creatine - Performance enhancing drug? At the end of the day, fighters have a responsibility to keep the illegal stuff out of their system. That is anabolic steroids, HGH, etc. Every fighter/athlete has the right to take products which are legal, as this is the line which has been drawn to determine the level playing field. That is the bottom line.
