Basically Mayweather copied Toneys style defensively speaking. The leaping left hook is executed in the same way Naz Hameed use to do it. He pronely swagger jacked some RJJ moves also.

Toney is probably too big though. Maybe if he was around 180lb tops but he's never going to get down to that again. Forbes might be a good idea, he uses the phily-shell D and he's a 140/147.

No he didn't. Mayweather's daddy defended the same way... you know, the same man who taught Mayweather how to box in the first place.

Toney trains on all you can eat buffets not a good place for Sugar to prepare for a fight.

I doubt many would be able to use the philly-shell defense affectively again a guy with the speed, accuracy, composite punching skills and power of Ray Leonard.

All boxers take from the guys who came before them. It's not "jacking", it's just the natural development of things. Furthermore, Floyd does not defend exactly as Toney does, so he did not "basically copy" it. Furthermore, he was trained that style from the time he started.

it's not a bad idea to learn from Toney and Forbes was a great suggestion. Toney is the only one i could think of that could perform the defense with NEARLY the skill that mayweather has but getting as many people to emulate it as possible is probably for the best. It's the most ****ing frustrating defense since Sweet Pea and Mosley is gonna need more ideas than throwing the right over the top or a long left around it

Floyd himself would be hard pressed to make it work against Leonard.

I think Guzman should be one of his sparring partners.

He's the only fighter even close to Mosley's weight who (tries) to fight in exactly the same style as Floyd.
