Cotto by 10th round KO. I have not felt as confident as this with a fight prediction in a long time. Mosely will have his moments early, Cotto will come on in the mid rounds the tenth will be his round with two KD's and a stoppage.
What rubbish. Look at the sustained punishment he took in the Torres fight. It was FAR greater then what Taylor took, and he still only went down off a push, despite being hurt. Cotto due to his extremely active offense naturally gets hit more then Taylor. When comparing chins you should take that into account. IMO Taylor only took a couple of decent punches before being counted out for good.
I dig Mosely. But I feel Cotto's just too strong, and Mosely is getting a little old to be fighting young guys this talented, and this HUNGRY.:!:
How many genuine punchers had Taylor faced prior to fighting Pavlik? Zero. Cotto fought big punchers such as Bailey, Abdullaev, Torres, and Judah, only tasting the canvas once. First genuine puncher Taylor faced, after taking on hard hitting guys, such as Kassim Ouma and Cory Spinks, he gets brutally KO'd.
Just about the first time Taylor was truly hurt in that fight it was over. Cotto has come back from some serious punishment before. Both can be hurt, but neither have china chins. I think Cotto has more guile and ticker though, not saying Taylor doesnt have any but Cotto has certainly been in a couple of wars and rarely takes a back step.
Cotto never throws the first shot, just keeps his guard very high with both gloves near his temples and since he has such a thick trunk and such large broad shoulders, he can't even keep his arms close to his body ( his elbows hang up there and never protect his rib-cage effectively) - he has the physique of a wrestler and his whole tight guard is based on the strength of his upper body. Please, check out that against Bailey, Pinto, Urkal, Torres, even against Branco, the guy takes clean shots and some even stretch their left range finder to connect with the big right afterwards... True that he takes the shots and counter-punches with gigantic hooks that can snap your head back and punish your body to submission, but against an experienced, combination (much faster) boxer-puncher in Mosley, how can you bet on Cotto if you are not as wild as his boxing is? I'm sorry, Mosley UD is the safe bet.
There is a doubt about Mosleys age but Mosley will hurt Cotto and knows how to close the deal. I go with Mosley early-mid rd KO
