If Mayweather faced all Mosleys opponents and vice versa what doyou think there records would be and what outcomes would be different? Would Mosley have lost to any of Floyds 40 opponents? Would Maywether have beat Cotto, Wright and Vernon?
Cotto yes...Wright and Vernon i dont know.....maybe Wright becaue he doesnt cut the ring off well and he hides so much behind his high guard Floyd would just pick him apart im not sure he could catch up to Floyd....Vernon though....big problem.
In the first Mosley fight Forrest was so sharp it was stupid. ANYBODY has trouble with that guy. I'd be willing to question whether any given version of Mayweather could handle that combination of ferocity, power, size, and precision. Some people probably aren't even sure Mayweather could beat a circa 2000 De La Hoya or an Antonio Margarito. Not me, but some would say that. And those are Mosley victims. Winky on top of his game, up at 154, is no picnic either. Definitely a question mark. Good thread.
My thoughts exactly. I'd have picked Mayweather to beat Wright, mainly because i've seen Winky react pretty poorly to a guy using lateral movement in a few fights. 2002 Forrest would have been the most difficult guy on Mosley's record for Floyd to beat imo. Prime Oscar woulda been tough too, but i didn't see the actual Mayweather-dlh fight being as close as some did, so i can still envision Mayweather edging out a 2000 dlh. As for Mosley against guys on Floyd's record, in all honesty i wouldn't make anybody on Floyd's record a favourite over Shane. 2007 Oscar woulda still been tough for him i think, but that's about it.
Interesting question, honestly I don't think Mayweather could continuously campaign at 154, so the Wright fight if it would have happened would have happened probably at 147. But Mayweather probably would have done a better job against Wright than Mosley, as Mayweather probably would not have a problem getting into a tactical duel with Wright, I would pick Mayweather in very close decisions over Wright. As for Vernon Forrest, once again it would be a very tough tactical fight, and since I think Mayweather is the king of tactical warfare I would have to pick him in very close decisions over Forrest. As for the reverse, since we don't know the true outcome of Mosley-De La Hoya II since Shane was on PEDs I might be inclined to believe he would have lost to De La Hoya. As for the rest of Mayweather's record, Castillo would have given him a tough fight as would Judah, but I would still pick Mosley over both men.
Im 90 percent sure the 2000 verison of DLH beats Mayweather. The 2007 verison had no legs, diminished hand speed and had fought about 6 rounds in 3 years. I always thought Floyd struggled slightly with Southpaws like Mitchell and Judah and I think Wright is a different animal he has a great right jab and Floyd would no longer be able to use that jab he likes so much to the body he would get countered with 2 stiff jabs everytime. I like Winky over Floyd. I also would pick Cotto over Mayweather or atleast that verison of Cotto the stiff jab, pressure, body attack and activity and of course power punching for me is a nightmare for Floyd. Floyd is like Shane in a way they beat the **** out of everyone at their natural weight but when they moved up Shane took risks Vargas, Mayorga where much bigger theres the avoided guys like Margarito, Collazo, Wright and Forrest. Floyd kinda cherry picked until now at 147.
Pretty much, I agree with this. I do believe Vernon and ODLH would have beaten him. Cotto? That is very close. Cotto can handle speed and has a laser for a jab.
