lol I know I was pulling your words a bit but its pretty much what you're kind of implying. There is no other way to see it because Mosley has a small window of advantages in this fight and for him to win you simply have to blow Trinidad's weaknesses out of context...Tito's chin/speed/movement/1 dimensional style etc... Its all crap, Tito is more of a bad style for Mosley than Mosley is for Trinidad, And for someone to favor Mosley in this match up has to severely underrate Trinidad's ability
refresh my memory but did Trinidad fight with his right hand tied behind his back? Ask yourself this, Would Mosley circle around the ring like DLH did if he ever fought Trinidad? No. Would Trinidad have to chase Mosley down and be kept off balance by a constantly moving hit and moving target? No. Would Trinidad be the one side stepping and slowly circling the ring, forcing the shorter Mosley to come to him? Yes. If Mosley has to come forward to the Taller Trinidad Then who plays the role of the counter puncher? Trinidad. If Mosley has to come forward to the taller Trinidad who has to take more chances, punch more often, and expose themselves to getting countered? Mosley. Which of these two fighters is the boxer-puncher style? Both. Which of these two fighters is the pure boxer? Neither. This fight would have been a war for as long as it lasted, It would have been a fight and theres no other type of **** that would happen in this type of a fight with these two guys. It doesn't even make sense to favor the smaller Mosley in a fight with Trinidad considering that this fight only had 1 possible outcome and that would have been a war.
Relax there Tito-phile. Titos best weapon has always been the left hook, thats no secret. Shane used footwork when he beat DLH in the first fight. Didnt run though. Shane is the better boxer and Tito is the better fighter, Tito has been shown to not be able to adapt well when he needs to. Shane can brawl and box - he could force him to have to adapt.
I love this match up, and it blows this fight never happened. But Mosley was a warrior, and he fought everyone Toe to Toe. His boxing adjustments were never anything drastic so IMO it wouldn't have been anything that Trinidad couldn't handle. Mosley would have to adjust so greatly that he would have to pose a huge stylistic problem for Trinidad and if he didn't it wouldn't have been a problem for Tito. Assuming this fight turned into a war, Who would you all favor? Thats what I'm getting to here. Because there is no doubt in my mind that the fight would be a war.
A toe to toe war favors Tito, but Shane didnt goe toe to toe with DLH. . . he outboxed him. I think he would simply box a little more against Tito. But you have a good point, if he gets sucked into a war - with his warrior mentality its not far fetched - then it would a helluva war.
Its one of those pick em fights because it all depends on Mosleys strategy. I think the Mosley who fought De La Hoya the 1st time (2000) would defeat Trinidad. However if Trinidad fought the Mosley (the version that fought Adrian Stone) he would take him to the cleaners. If i were a betting man, id put money on Felix.
Team Hopkins contested the wraps and even threatened to cancel the bout, believing the wraps were incorrect. It took the Chief Inspector of the NYSAC to force Trinidads hands be re-wrapped the correct way, and even then, it didnt take until the third try to get the wraps correctly done for the rest of the story click http://www.doghouseboxing.com/News/Rios/Rios012904.htm As for your comment if you think Steriods has more an impact than illegally wrapped hands go let somebody punch you with a cast on and then let me know if it matters. Also ask Billy Collins Jr, Williard if Illegal wraps doens't matter. Also btw i'm not making any excuses for Mosley or Tito, I really like both fighters more so Trinidad, but i'm not gonna be a huge fan of one and call the other a cheat.
Never, but... Most people aren't saying Trinidad would knock Shane the **** out, just a referee stoppage or a corner stoppage due to an accumulation of heavy/accurate punches from Trinidad. I don't think anybody in welterweight history, other than maybe Hearns or Robinson, could get a clean KO against Mosley. He's about as durable as they come.
Good point there my friend in a way. Although Tito is taller doesn't mean that Shane will have to get inside. Height isn't the biggest factor its the reach advantage Shane 74" tito 72 1/2" and Tito never really fought like a tall guy either. Good solid points though, just seems like one of those fights. nice to have a solid debate also unlike many many many debates in ESB :good
