YOu have to say Mosley as of now, we really don't know what Berto has. It would be one hell of an entertaining fight, that is for sure.
Mosley would destroy Berto. Just thinking about Andre leaping into Mosley's jab. Shane would make lil' Berto look like an amature. Andre should defo look elsewhere.
Mosley by knockout. More experienced and more battle tested, and that alone should give him the edge versus the green Andre Berto.
Mosley would win comfortably on points. Still, would be a competitive and interesting fight. Anyone who thinks he flat out destroys Berto is kidding themselves.
RIGHT NOW Shane wins this fight, in a year Berto wins. What is happening with Shane right now is that Cotto fans have hitched thier wagons to Shane...He is Cotto's big win and the better that he does the better it makes Cotto look. Shane is a shot fighter and I wouldnt be shocked if Berto beat him if they fought tomorrow. But at this point I think that Shane has too much left in the tank and Berto is too green. But I could see a situation were Berto could outwork "One shot" Shane.
Anyone who picks Andre Berto should be banned from ESB!!!:fire Just kidding, but seriously, come on, Shane Mosley tears Berto apart. Mosley is almost as fast at 36 years old, stronger (his fight with Cotto was awesome!), and is much more experienced. He would (or should) use his jab the way he did with Vargas in their rematch, as Berto tends to leave his chin up. But Mosley is a terror on the inside, especially to the body, and with Berto's tendencies, I would fully expect a great KO for "Sugar" Shane.
Mosley would destroy Berto, anything else is pretty much out of the question because Berto's style wouldn't be effective at all against Mosley. Mosley's chin is still iron and he still has excellent reflexes, speed, and timing. He'd have Berto backing up defenseless, confused, and panicking after a few rounds and he would stop him easily. Berto has no idea what to do when he's being pressured. This will be a lot more evident when he faces a real top level fighter who won't be overwhelmed by his offense. It's basically a matchup between Mosley and a very poor man's version of Mosley.
I don't think Mosley tears Berto apart. I see Shane using upper body movement and a good work rate like he always does but getting seriously bothered by Berto's speed. There both 5'9 but Berto is a pretty big welterweight. Berto has a better jab and is faster than Shane. As far as Shanes body attack goes, he was a better body puncher at 135. As he moved up to 147 and 154 he throws a little more to the head. Shane has problems with fighters with good jabs. Delahoya rematch, Vernon, Winky, hell even Cotto. Berto consistantly throws his jab. Not to say Shane would get washed or anything, but in no way does Shane KO Berto or run a highlight on him. Berto's jab is faster than Cotto's and would reach Shane just as much as Cotto's did or maybe a little more considering Berto is a fighter based on speed and Cotto isn't. Shane's work rate and experience has to always be taken into consideration. His resume of opponents is not to be questioned. He has a big right hand that he landed on Cotto ALOT, and a sneaky left hook that he KO'D Vargas with so Shane's power is a factor also. To tough of a fight to call IMO. Either fighter can pull it off, it would be a good one. I wouldn't bet on it.
You make a very good case.:good Still, I think Mosley would be able to make some adjustments (he did when he fought Wright the second time, albeit in losing effort), land to the body, and win a late round TKO. I think Mosley's punching power, though not the terror he was at lightweight, would hurt Berto. Mosley is fast enough to land one, and with Berto's chin up in the air, I think Shane could pull it out. Ultimately, I just think Mosley is too durable and experienced for Berto to make mistakes (i.e. keeping his chin up, throwing lead right hands).
