Yeah true story, Berto does leave his chin hanging, that's an adjustment he's gonna have to make when he faces better fighters when he steps up in competition. However to balance that, Shane doesn't really move his head. His fight with Cotto was awesome but it also showed another flaw for a fighter at 36 that a fighter at 24 can look at and take advantage of. Both fighters can wear the other down with an accumilation of shots, however I just don't see either fighter knocking out the other. To close of a fight and niether one's activity level slows down. I think it would go the full 12.
As much as I like Berto, a wise man once said this: "Berto is basically a poor (poor) man's version of Shane Mosley". While I think this is kind of harsh, it is true. Problem is, this "poor man's version of Mosley" is going to give the Sugar man problems because of his natural speed and youth. At the end of the day, though, I think the original Mosley can out-Mosley Berto, I think he's just more durable and better-prepared to handle Berto. This would be Berto's toughest challenge to date - I wouldn't say the same for Shane. Either way, I'd love to see this happen. Gotta go with "Sugar" Shane, though.:hey
I agree, Of course it would be Berto's toughest test. He would be the one stepping up in competition and he's the younger guy. He's trying to become an elite fighter while Shane has been an elite fighter for many years. However I look at it this way, no boxer is perfect(unless it's Floyd) Jermain Taylor had more flaws against Hopkins than Berto would have against Mosley. And Sam Peter's NO-TALENT-ASS should have never beaten James Toney, but it happened twice. I would love to see Berto vs Mosley though. Just based on how they are as fighters would match them up very well.
Nicely put:good Kinda like how the Datsun 280z was a poormans Porsche....no matter what the Porsche always hands the Z a beatdown:deal
I don't know really what people are pretending to suggest but there should not be much between these two at the moment. Berto is extremelly sharp, carries good power and is a very young, fresh athlete... Nobody wants to disrespect Shane and his exceptional skills and qualities but that one would be tough for him right now. People talk about backgrounds and experience but it comes down to getting first at your opponent, fighting back and keeping it up and, therefore, Shane would probably be the first one to slow down like it happened in the Cotto fight. Berto is tougher than Estrada and Collazo and Shane had to commit fully to win decisions against those...
You *******.....you know damn well you'll be holding your breath for the 12 minutes before Dawson gets KOd
Or like Mayweather is a poor man's Pernell Whitaker. Guzman is superior to the current Mayweather anyways. And Guzman has never bored me, like Floyd has for a while now.
I'm not worried about Dawson. Diaconu will be stopped by the middle rounds, possibly earlier. The Henry fight was much more embarassing for Diaconu than the Johnson fight was for Dawson. And I scored the fights for Henry and Dawson. I don't even need to mention that Diaconu is nothing like Johnson and would get completely destroyed by him. I've said it before in a simple way before analyzing it full on, but sometime before the fight I will give extremely detailed analysis of it. And I don't "latch" on to fighters quickly. Discovering the greatness of Guzman was a special, unique moment not comparable to any other experience I had with becoming a fan of a fighter.
Berto is a very good offensive fighter, and Mosley is hardly a defensive wizard. I think overall, Shane's movement, and experience would win a wide decision at this point. BUt it would definitely be competitive. Berto is a very fast, strong welterweight, who can and will land on Shane. Shane couldn't KO Estrada, yet you think he destroys Berto:nut Cmon bro, your exaggerating again.
Mosley stops him, mosley just went 12 hard intense rounds with the number 1welterweight of the world, some argue that he won, can you see berto doing that?
