I believe it is left to the ref's discretion.

Zab really needs this fight, probably more than any other fight in his career. HE has already fallen to a borderline-gatekeeper level fighter at welterweight If he loses and especially if he gets knocked out by a 36, 37 year old Mosley he has to be done as a serious contender at welter. That being said, I think he gives Mosley a pretty good fight while it lasts, but eventually will lose focus and fall apart as usual. Zab's best hope is that Mosely grow old overnight, which is a possibility at Mosley's age, but I wouldn't bank on it. Mosely late round ko, or points decision.

Remember, the guys who gave Mosley the most trouble were guys with great jabs. Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, Oscar De La Hoya, and Miguel Cotto. I never thought Zab had a great jab like those guys....just sayin'.

Good point but it's at the discretion of the ref to stop the fight.

yes and No -- If your corner step on the apron during fight action is a automatic disqualification , but in the case of Floyd vs Zab the ref had already stopped the action because of a fowl and at that point it is up to his discretion of disqualifying a fighter or not , in this case he banned Roger from the ring.
