Think before you post. Or simply ask, WHY IS THAT? And I will explain.

I agree margarito is way better than baldomir....but at least baldomir and margarito come to fight....not pot shot then run.....Mayweather is a good athlete and good "boxer" but a terrible fighter...and boring...

I forgot the point so my comments are all over the place....

Anyway the ww division is the best in boxing because you dont know what to expect...

True...that...But who did Mayweather fight to deserve fighting ODLH?

He never fought in the JR middleweight division....

Like i said i lost what the whole point was but yeah you are right about the politics...

    True rankings are flawed....

I wouldn't say that makes it "the best" - The reason why you never know what to expect is that the majority of the top WWs have glaring weaknessess that could cause them to loose on any given night.

It's a very deep division with a high number or level tiered oposition, and many good fights can be made. But not one of the current WW "top dogs" could be considered an "ATG".

You knew he was going to lose doesn't mean the fight was easy, if it was easy then everyone would have been a multiple weight division champion, it was a tough fight no matter how much you will try to make it sound like it's a walk in the park. Mayweather being cautious was for obvious reasons, his opponent was WAY bigger than him and WAY stronger than him, he had to be cautious and fight safe to win the fight, being careless could have put him in a horrible position and this isn't just any bigger fighter, it's DLH. What happened in Margarito's attempt at Light Middleweight?

About the Hatton fight, as much as everyone is trying to make it look like a bull**** win that win is a solid victory as well, Hatton came determined in that fight and 100% serious, his weight division is 140 but would it have been totally different if they fought at that weight instead?, I don't think so. That was a win against a top 10 P4P fighter at the time and a win that will be highly appreciated in the long run. It's very easy for me to take away Margarito's only major win by saying Cotto is a smaller guy and a blown up 140lber too but you don't see me doing it because I know it's ridiculous, even though a cheap shot like that is very easy to type away behind the comfort of the computer.

A rematch with Williams was planned to be a PPV and for obvious reasons, it's nothing different than a fight with Mosley or Cotto in terms of money, I would like to know how much a rematch with Cotto will make him or a fight with Mosley, the numbers should be out soon about how much he's offered and if it's more than Williams then sure, we'll TRY to pass on it though it's very hard to pass on someone that already beat you even if the money was more(doubt it will be WAY more).

Again I repeat the same questions I asked you man, Mayweather doesn't even BELONG in this discussion since his situation is TOTALLY different than Margarito's. If Mayweather had a loss against Margarito and turned a rematch with him down for DLH and Hatton then sure, I'll criticise as much as I am criticising Margarito right now. He never had a loss to him and Margarito didn't even have any major win in his record to force that fight, he never even attempted to grab the unified WBC/WBA/IBF titles when a unified fighter was around for years, he decided to settle with the WBO title and it's only when he dropped that belt as CLEARLY OBVIOUS that he started getting the big money fights he always wanted. In boxing if you want something so bad you need to take risks and sacrifice certain positions, if years of holding on to the WBO didn't get him anything then why stick with it especially when a unified champion is out there?

True that....They are gonna have to have playoff and see who the champ is that given year because maybe Cotto could beat margarito 2 out of 3 or vice versa...and that could be said about all the fighters in that division....In my opinion its the best for the fans....as far as talent...the deepest...So who do you think is the best division?
I mean boxing has always been to me a hevyweight and middleweight sport.

Sure that's your opinion on him and you're entitled to it, though I wouldn't rate my opinion or yours above the rules in boxing. He was his mandatory and they took on him as a tune-up and they were proven wrong. He deserves some credit for it rather than insults towards him or Mayweather.

In the end he worked his way to the #1 rank for the WBC and got the title shot he wanted, he never got it smoking pot in Argentina, the man was fighting and earned his spot.

Whether he's greater than Margarito or not is a totally different discussion and a very blurry one back in the day since Margarito was unproven at that point anyway, only recently did he make noise after beating Cotto. Baldomir beat the man at Welterweight therefore he's the man, pretty much how Margarito beat the man at Welterweight in Cotto(even though he wasn't unified as Judah was) and he gets that spot.

That simple, I can make cases about how I believe Williams is better than Margarito with an actual fight as proof out there to rate him above Margarito, very easy but it doesn't work that way and Margarito has the #1 spot right now with Williams #2.

147 is the second best in boxing. 135 is the best at the moment (shame pacquiao couldn't stay around) the lightweight division has better depth and a good mix of experience and excellent up and comers. welters have a bunch of elite fighters and the rest are just gatekeepers almost a two divisions within one. whereas 135 is deep and really hot especially with world class fighters coming up and down to 135 (marquez, pacquiao, bradley) just a matter of making the fights (campbell/JJM)

    1. I agree that Margo was unproven at the time. But aside from rankings, don't you think a fight with Margo would be way tougher for Floyd than Baldomir? Not trying to diss Tata here, he fought his way to #1 (although I believe it was somewhat circumstantial), but even then I believe Margarito was better than Baldomir.

    2. That's how I rank fighters too... saying who's the best is a totally different thing. I remember, though, that I'd told someone here on ESB that where a fighter is ranked at the time of a fight is very important to his and his opponent's rankings, and he responded saying that's just my opinion and others may have different criteria when ranking fighters :huh
