Never doubt Shane Mosley one thing I learned years ago was to never doubt a great fighter he may always have something left inside. With Shane Mosley the speed and offensive energy has decreased a bit but hes still hungry and determined never count out a true fighter like him a great one at that. My first boxing fight I ever seen taught me just that it was Holyfield-Tyson 1 everything said Holyfield was shot he was in his mid 30s he had the Hepititis,The Heart problem and all them brutal wars with Bowe x3,Dokes,Qawi and Foremen. Tyson was supposed to eat him alive but Holyfield much like Shane was still hungry and very determined to pull out a win and thats exactly what he did. Margaritos a fine fighter but hes FAR from unbeatable. Hes so used to breaking fighters wills lets see if he can break Shanes I seriously doubt that.
Forrest shook Mosely badly. Margarito is so much better than Forrest, hits hards, fantastic chin, great stamina.
You know, live and fight another day is becoming accurate statement for more and more fighters lately. Respect for Shane but damn he is not runner, he can get badly hurt.
If this fight happens youve got to go for Margarito via late rounds stoppage. Mosely hasnt got the legs to fight the kind of fight needed for him to beat Margo at this late stage in his career.
I didn't really think Shane was going to fight Margarito. It's got to be a good fight though. " I Love You, Shane Mosely" is what Merchant said, and I agree. His warrior heart comes in very rarely in this generation.
It never ceases to amaze me how Shane Mosley goes after some of the hardest, worst risk/reward fights there are. He can't win this fight at this point. In his prime he could, and even then it would be pretty tough. Then again...if he does pull this off somehow, he will no doubt jump in the ATG rankings, probably up to where DLH and Trinidad are. Remember...Shane is a guy who's prime was probably at 135...he's small even for a welterweight...beating a big guy like Margarito, the man at WW would be a big statement, especially after Shane was relatively even with the consensus #2 WW in Cotto.
Pretty fair post but still a few points I disagree with. If you remember well enough Mayweather's move to Welterweight had Zab Judah all over it after his major win over Spinks, people wanted that fight and I remember a lot claiming Mayweather will never fight someone like Judah after his performance against Spinks and Rivera. People tend to forget that and completely ignore it which is totally unfair considering how much of a thread Judah was considered to Mayweather back then. Judah losing to Baldomir isn't Mayweather's fault, some people here seem to treat that like it's Mayweather who saw it coming or was hoping it would happen which wasn't the case at all because the fight with Judah was already planned, pretty much like Pacquiao/Morales II and Margarito/Cotto II(soon) with both fighting tune-ups and then meeting each other, also similar to Cotto/Margarito I, that's how Arum makes things. When Judah lost Mayweather still was left with no options, Margarito was booked to fight Gomez on a PPV card, Baldomir wanted one more fight before he's ready and there was no one else worth looking into so Arum still made the Judah fight regardless since it was already heavily advertised and hyped at that point(which costs money, as you know). After the Judah fight the Margarito talks started coming as Mayweather left Arum to fight the #1 fighter in Judah, if you also remember back then Mayweather was rumored to fight Spinks at 154 for his IBF title(since Mayweather had the IBF at Welterweight). People didn't welcome that idea though I'm pretty sure you know what that fight meant, it was a clear target to DLH at that weight, the public were all over this and claimed Mayweather should fight THE CHAMP at Welterweight if he wants to prove serious because it's something he failed to do at 140 due to Hatton's demands, so he signed that fight and after it was signed people claimed he should fight Margarito instead. Point is no matter what he does the people will still ask for something else in hope of making whatever fight he signs look bad. Just take a look at the support before the DLH fight, people LOVED it, same thing with the Hatton fight, but when they're done and Mayweather is victorious the fight means nothing, very typical in boxing. Again about both guy's cases it's not the same and nothing close, Margarito called out Mayweather out of the blue simply because he was in his stable at the time and wanted a big fight despite not doing anything worth mentioning in a division he has been in for too long already. A fight with the #1 Welterweight who beat Zab Judah for his WBC/WBA/IBF title is better or a fight with Margarito coming off a win over unranked Manuel Gomez and is rated high enough as a Welterweight but higher than Baldomir?, the answer is no. Margarito is refusing to fight a man that already beat him to make better money fighting other guys, Mayweather didn't do the same, last I checked Margarito never beat him. Totally different, it's only now that everyone wants Margarito and for obvious reasons, when you get a major win in boxing and all of a sudden highly regarded by all people call you out, when you haven't done anything worth mentioning what's the point?, that's how most fights are made. You need to earn the position to get it, yelling behind microphones and beating C class fighters doesn't get you that and it's very very clear with Margarito right now. Notice how he was once called the most feared man on the planet and now EVERYONE is calling him out?
Dude, Mosley is a greater fighter than DLH and Tito. Shane is one of the best lightweights ever. DLH and Tito are maaaybe one of the best welters ever.
Just Cause Cotto defeated Mosley , Margarito TKOed Cotto, dont think that Margarito is going to "destroy" Mosley. I Expect a very close fight and i give Mosley a very hight 70% of putting an upset. Mosley is a very intelligent fighter an can addapt very good.
Mosely wanted no part of Mayweather when the fight was offered, keep bringing up your great opinions though..
