On the scene. I love Mosley, he truly is a warrior but he needs less yes-men and more NO-MEN in his corner.
the hell? this fight makes NO SENSE whatsoever, how in the hell does this fight even get mentioned? GBP: Lets see Mosley, weve got Berto, Margarito 2, Angulo, Cotto, all high profile, spotlight type fights that are more then winnable and would help you bounce back with a solid, solid victory against known fighters, and if they beat you, well hey you are at the tail end of your career and they are semi big names. Looks like from the internet forums the buzz is around you and berto going at it, but regardless we have some good fights here No.... scratch that, you know what, lets put you in with Mora, a fight nobody wants to see against a guy with no fanbase at not an ideal weightclass for you and in with someone who can give you some problems as well. Not to mention, nobody has even mentioned this fight as even a second or third choice as far as fights they want to see you in, and has no real effect on your division, OR at 154. Yes!!!!! we found the one!
Not sure if those fights you mentioned are as winnable as you think...Berto is definitely winnable but Angulo would be way too much risk and too little reward.Margarito would make sense but why risk it if he doesn't have a belt. Cotto is BIG risk, BIGGER reward but I think he wants to build up to that rematch and make a PPV event of it. To do that he needs to beat the crap out of some well know guys who are tailor-made for him...then fight Cotto.
Angulo might be high risk, but the fact is hes got a semi following, is a top shelf fighter at this stage (ranked #3 at 154), and his ranking alone would be a decent reward at this stage of the game for mosley. And all Angulo is going to be bringing with him is power, but he will be in front of Mosley all night to hit, and while def would be a live fight and winnable for Angulo, mosley would have to like his chances. As for not risking it against Margarito if he doesnt have a belt, even a beltless Margarito means more then Mora right now.... Mora, is not even a TOP 10 opponent at this stage.... and brings NO reward... none. That fight makes no sense. Mosley is not at the age where he can afford the luxery of waiting for fights to build into ppv's, and hes voiced many times over all he wants are high profile fights against 'the best'. And at worst a bad showing, god forbid a loss, to a fighter like Mora right now would be doom for mosley.... not so much if he were to lose to one of the other high ranking contenders out there in his own weightclass or 154. A berto fight is a no brainer, a cotto fight would be nice, and an angulo fight is stretching it but A mora fight is absurd. Just imo :good
What terrible news. Someone like Mora should be anathema to Mosley right now, given his stated intentions of only wanting "big" legacy-enhancing fights. Mora's risk-reward ratio is horrible, and even in a win Mosley will look like crap (worse than against Mayorga or Mayweather) due to styles. The only conceivable motive would be to beat the only other person who holds a win over his late conqueror Vernon Forrest (having already beaten Mayorga).
**** fight! Waste of time! Would be lucky to pull a crowd of 1,000! Mosley should fight Berto or retire!
Mora hasn't been the same since his win against Forrest. Mosley should beat him, if father time has not set in already.
100% agree, Mora is an incredibly dumb choice to fight. Angulo would fit the bill for Mosley. Angulo is dangerous, but no more than Margarito. Mosley knows the Mexican style and he still is faster than most 154lbers.
If he gave him directions to the nearest church, sure... Mora would actually be a tougher nut to crack than Angulo.
Very weak oppenent, but alteast it won't be (or damn well shouldn't be) PPV, so we can all atleast see how much Mosley actually has left. Anything less than a totally shitkicking means he's shot.
