surprised that a thread hadnt been started to cover this PPV coming up this weekend, lol. In fact one thread was devoted covering this surprise. Main Event Shane Mosley vs Sergio Mora shane being advertised basically as the latin killer whats the real gold in this event is the undercards though! Saul Alvarez vs Carlos Baldomir for a WBC minor title Daniel Ponce de Leon vs Antonio Escalante *Ponce is very heavy-handed Victor Ortiz vs Vivian Harris possibly seen.... Larnardo Tyner, maybe a chance of redemption from his last TV defeat?
Wow I'm liking that. Any opportunity to see Alvarez and Baldomir is no walk in the park. Very tough test.
:huh He's actually coming off a win over Antwone Smith. Either way, his fight won't be televised. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to Ponce De Leon-Escalante and Alvarez-Baldomir (even though I got a feeling Baldo may be showing up for a payday). Those two fights along with Frank Warren's Magificent 7 has me really amped for Saturday.
IF Alvarez defeats an old Baldomir, this will give Alvarez some street creds towards the Big Stage. I feel this is a passing of the torch fight for Canelo...
Hmmm, my memory must serve me wrong then. I remember the Antwone Smith fight, but dont remember who he lost to, though he was expected to win. Thought Tyner had lost at that same event or earlier...
Hmmm, I'm interested in seeing Alvarez some more, but it will be more of a passing the torch when he fights someone like an aging Mosley, Cotto etc... This is just another fight he's expected to win
checked it - you're right. Must have been thinking of someone else and mistook Tyner. So swear he had an off-night. Maybe it was another guy that follows him in the circuit?
This is a must-win fight for Alvarez. Baldomir is past his best and on the wane. It's a chance to capitalize with someone whose name is recognized.
Im hoping this win legitimizes him as a title contender... its not REALLY a solid win vs real boxing fans, but a good win vs the casual fans and the general public
