i know someone will have done this already but, as i haven't seen it, i thought i'd ask. 2 of my favourite boxers. i honestly can't pick between them - perhaps leaning towards Pryor.

i think this fight would have had it all - relentlessness of pryor against the speed and power of mosley - would have been interesting to see shane fight at 140.

I think Mosley at 140 would closely mirror him at 135. As I said on another thread, Pryor best wins were over a past top contender and twice beatiing Arguello. The first time with the cool aid and the second time, Arguello heart was already taken due to the loss and beating of the first fight. What did Pryor do after that besides call out SRL. Mosley would have outboxed him and attacked the body like he famously did at his reign at 135. Mosley would most definitely trade with him here and there, but Mosley has a good chin. Mosley by decision.

Turn down a deal for a Leonard fight because he wanted more than $500,000.

my first impulse is to go with mosley because he seemed nearly unbeatable at his athletic peak at 135 and since he carried the weight well enough up to 147 and 154, it seems to stand to reason that at 140 he would have been damn near his best. mosley was so quick and elusive, yet fierce and unrelenting...of course, this desire to Fight, with a capital F, when he doesn't have to (and shouldn't) has also been his undoing--or his weakness, at least. i think that pryor's lack of as many wins as significant as mosley's is mostly due to bad management. his natural talent and athleticism never had a chance to shine. i was always left wondering what if the poor matchmaking, the loaded water bottle ordeal and the drug addiction hadn't gotten a hold on pryor. what might he have been capable of? great things, i think. all time great things. in their respective primes, meeting at 140, i've got to go with pryor. it was swooping way he moved in and out throwing bunches of punches early...i think this sets a pace and a tone that leads shane away from fighting his best fight. i think shane would get stunned once or twice as he plants his feet and tries to stop pryor's perpetual motion. after getting stung, mosley turns it into a deathmatch and spends the rest of the night getting nailed trying more and more inefficiently to hammer pryor back. pryor gave only the kinds of angles that have been tough for mosley--against wright (twice) at welter and way back when against philip holiday. pryor by decision or late stoppage unless mosley resists the urge to brawl (which he historically ahs not done) and sticks to straight, economical punching in the center of the ring.

Pryor's overrated historically, but was a terrific fighter at his peak, and a handful for most or all guys at 140.

This is a close fight than can go either way.

Against who did he prove it though. Arguello, with like 80 fights already and far past his prime weight, or with 50 year old Cervantes with 100 fights?

His grueling win over Arguello didn't prove his greatness to me, he should have won easier if he was a great at that weight. It proved how great Arguello was.

Basically, that's also what I think. Bottle controversy aside, Arguello giving Pryor a tough fight is not really a knock on Pryor, it just shows what a special fighter Arguello was. Pryor was a small-ish 140 who probably could've made 135 (he was even the top ranked LW contender in the Ring while 140 lb. champ). Arguello's best weight was 130. While it was an advantage for Pryor, it wasn't some huge difference in weight.

While Mosley has proved to be a great fighter, it was more at 147. People often talk about how awesome Mosley looked at 135, but look at whom he was fighting. Mosley talked about feeling stronger at 147 after being weakened at 135. There's a chance that also extends to 140 as well.

Pryor was a beast H2H at the weight..Id take him to be to much for Shane, to unorthodox and busy.

As thread said I think Mosley looked better at welter...At times at light he often laboured to put away guys despite being so dominant over them pretty much from the first bell. I think it did take a bit out of him making the limit.

Thread Stealer, I never heard about Pryor turning down 500,000 to fight SRL. I am not calling you a liar, I just never heard that. Mosley was chasing Oscar just like PBF. I was shocked when he passed over 140 to go to 147. Bull**** as far as I can't make 135 and skip 140 to 147. The answer was Oscar. I beat the golden goose, then I am the man. He beat everyone they put in front of him while at 135. I still believe he would be a monster at 140 and one poster mentioned Mosley would get stunned. It is the other way around. Pryor has never seen that kind of speed coupled with power. Nothing shows me that he could handle Mosley. He was not on the scene for very long so I don't know about all this talk of Pryor being elite or ATG. He would have gotten his ass handed to him by SRL. If it is true he was offered 500,000, he should have taken it. Where else was he going to get that kind of money and who else could he have fought to make that kind of money? Not a Pryor hater, but again, what has he done that makes him so great?

He was destroying everyone they put in front of him at 135 so how is it he looks better at 147? He pretty much abandoned the body work he was so ferocously known for at 135. I truly believe he smelled the money and went after Oscar for fame and the money. He did and you can't blame him, he is rich for going after his.
