Let's say that Mosley moves up to 140 and faces Tszyu in 99, a year that both were at their peaks. Who wins? I got Mosley by late TKO.
Pickem fight for me. I could see Shane using his superior hand and foot speed to cruise to a decision win but I could also see Tszyu timing him with one of those right hands and getting Shane out of there. Styles make fights and while Tszyu beat Vernon Forrest in the amauters pretty easily, Shane lost twice to Forrest in the pro's. I would still have Shane as the favorite over Tszyu but not by much.
I think Shane would have knocked ten bells out of him. Bad, bad match up for Kostya who struggled against guys who could hold the centre of the ring or match his strength / pressure. He seemed much more at home going against guys who liked to move and who played the matador to him - oddly enough, Shane never looked too great against those guys who kept him on the outside. I don't see Tszyu stopping Mosley, and Mosley himself was fast as greased lightning and would likely be outlanding Tszyu 2:1 in the exchanges as a result. Mosley didn't necessarily protect his chin as well as he should have done, but like I said I don't see Tszyu cracking it and Tyszu wasn't always the hardest to find himself. A younger Mosley also had great conditioning and could keep with a high tempo until the late rounds. Tszyu was a brilliant champion at 140, but I think he was a shade fortunate that Mosley didn't bother making a pitstop there around the turn of the century. I see Mosley proving too powerful and quick for him, and taking him apart before stopping him in eight or nine rounds.
Mosely. He could apply the strength and pressure to eventually back Tzyu up and make him wilt. He was also extremely fast and explosive when punching. Would be hard for both men at the beginning though.
I think Mosley would our hustle him for a decision. Tszyu was quality if not great and would this would be tough for both guys, but Mosley should have this chin and defensive movement to avoid any/many punishing sequences and his speed should see him outpoint Tszyu here.
Mosley by UD. He's far more talented and better than all the guys Tzyu fought post Vince Phillips, excluding JC Chavez, and possibly, Zab. But Chavez was an empty shell when he lost to Kostya and Zab made fundamental defensive mistakes that the much more fundamentally sound Mosley wouldn't make.
Tszyu was talented, but I don't fancy his chances in this match-up. Mosley was firing on all cylinders pre-Forest, and I think he'd prove too fast and too talented, and even in the event Kostya nailed him with some well timed shots at mid range, I don't think they would slow Shane done all that much.
Mosley only been stopped once in his career and that was late and at SWW. Sounds like you are overrating Tszyu or underrating Mosley. Picking Tszyu is defendable even though I dont. Why do you see an early KO?
I don't think Tszyu beat Forest easily in the ams at all. If you were listening to the totally biased commentary, maybe, in actuality, it wasn't all that easy.
Laugh all you want. Do you not recall the straight right hand that Forest nearly KOed Mosley with? I guarantee Tszyu's right hand is harder.
You are right. Easy was a poor choice of words. Tyzsu did win 32-9 though. He beat him pretty cleanly.
