Just finished rewatching Mosley/Cotto. The fight gets better every time I watch it. Does anyone else think Mosley suffered from his going down in weight (and I'm not trying to take away from Cotto's win)? Every time he popped Cotto and Cotto kept coming he had a look on his face like a superhero jumping off a building and realizing he can't fly anymore. Seriously, Mosley looked like he lost a lot of muscle and therefore power.
No, I think he's better off @ 147. Besides the stoppage wins over a faded Vargas, Mosley hasn't really shown much power anyway since 2001.
Honestly I dont think Shane has ever been a truly big puncher anyway. Even at lightweight, it was more the sheer numbers blindingly fast shots that wore guys down. There have been heaps of Mosley fights that I sat there thinking, "How long is he going to take to finish this guy" but in the end he is so dominant you dont really think about it. I think against Cotto he was a guy who was a bit older and couldnt keep the pace he used to force the hurt to accumulate on Cotto.
True. Mosley clinches a lot more nowadays, because at his age, he has to be more conservative about when he uses his energy.
Mosleys always had more power when hes on his toes and countering watch the KD on Collazo or Vargas. Agianst Cotto for some reason even from the start Shane tried to fight flat footed and throw one punch a time going back to what got him in trouble from years past and almost lost him the 1st Vargas fight. Throwing a shot and pulling straight back exposing himself to a big right hand or not slipping the jab. Shanes a great fighter but hes fustrated me sometimes with how stubborn he can be in that ring. BTW I still felt like he won there should be a rematch since Fraud Mayweather wants neither and has made that clear.
