Mosley had his chance before he went to welterweight while Floyd was on the rise. He passed on that opportunity and went on with his career. Now 5 losses later and no significant win since 03' he wants the chance to make a few extra dollars.

Mosley is a good fighter but has had many set backs ... no matter if he defeats Judah, Mayorga, Margarito and win a rematch wit Cotto, he still wouldn't be able to land a fight with Mayweather. He would have to go on a consistant 5-10 fight win streak, win a title (possibly - but he still has a good name and might not need a belt)

I personally think he chances of another mega fight diminished once he lost to Cotto.

Its not about being scared ... they wouldve fought back in the late 90's if Mosley was up for the challenge.

Why would he be scared of a fighter on the down slide of their career and just coming off an L to Cotto.

Mosley also was set up to be the mandatory for Floyd's WBC welterweight title but declined in order to fight Cotto.

If Mosley was serious about the fight then he wouldve been mandated to fight or else Floyd wouldve been stripped of his belt.

    Thats 2wice ...

I have seen most of the fight with Cotto, and think that Shane missed an opportunity to burst Miguel's bubble to be honest.

One thing that has always intrigued me about Shane's career, is that he bypassed the 140lb division - was this to avoid facing Kostya Tszyu?

Yes it was but you would also have to include DLH and Mayweather ... not saying that Tszyu wouldve won but to them it wasn't worth the risk.

Setting all that aside, both he and Jin have gone on record saying he won't have anywhere close to 5-10 more fights. Mayweather, too, is probably going to collect a handful of biannual paychecks and call it quits by 2010. I'd be very surprised if they got it on, and if they ever do it'll be out of financial desperation long past the fight's expiration as an attractive prospect.

You can't be serious. Even if shane wins his upcoming fight, he won't be able to put together a streak of 4-5 fights because of good old father time. He just missed the boat.

I don't .... but he's had a couple of chances ... he fought Collazo for the WBC interim WW belt. He wouldve been a couple fights away from a mandated challenge to Floyd.

Im going to be honest... i CLEARLY remember there being an offer for Mosley to fight mayweather, but Mosley said he wanted to take a vacation... this was a few years ago now. It was during an interview for maxboxing i believe.

I remember that it was after the Collazo fight ... he said that he was going to take a vacation. He was then the interim WBC WW champion.

He ended up fighting Cotto a little later.

There was another time i remember as well... he said something about his tooth hurting, im not making that up. Im a mosley fan and i know he must have had some reason to not face him. Maybe he thought it would happen sooner or later anyways.
