"I hit harder than Margarito" This is not what I would expect to hear from Sugar if he truely thinks he can beat Margarito. The gameplan has already been discovered by Williams and the opposite can be said about Cottos gameplan. I just think Sugar will go in trying to outslug Margo instead of outboxing and moving. Thoughts anyone?
i bet richardson and mosley will work on a gameplan to outbox margo using angles, but you know mosley is a warrior and wants to out-tough everybody. he'll probably end up slugging it out with margo only to come out 2nd best. he doesnt have the stamina either way to come out the winner. im taking margo by decision.
I'm still sour on what happened in the Mayorga fight, if only Mayorga wouldn't have been Ko'd or Kd'd he might have finally got a big fight won! Go Margarito
He was barely outboxing a shot Mayorga up until the knockout, how is he going to outbox the more technically sound and busier Margarito? He isn't knocking him out either, so its not looking promising.
I really hope for Mosley's sake that his proclamation of being stronger, which to me insinuates that he's willing to fight and perhaps trade with Margo, is nothing more than a smokescreen and he really intends using his boxing skills. Margo is not the welter to be trading punches with and is Mosley insists on learning the hard way than he will suffer the same fate as Cintron.
It's not often when a guy says someone else is stronger and hits harder than him. The gameplan by Mosley will probably be a mixture of boxing and trading. Mosley's never been a pure boxer, more of a speedy slugger, and Margarito isn't someone who's easy to neutralize by completely boxing and being on the backfoot (Cotto could only do it that succesfully for 5-6 rounds). Going to war with Tony isn't easy either, especially for a guy in his late 30s who fights at a more measured pace. I think it might be best for Mosley to "stink it out". Use his handspeed to beat Tony to the punch, and tie Margarito up often.
this is mosely's problem he never runs and if his opponent wants to trade then he'd gladly oblieged, if he trades with margo hes done before the 9th.
If you wanna talk about one punch power, Mosley IMO doeshave more power. Margarito doesnt punch hard, he doesnt have that one punch power that a guy like Pavlik has. He KOs and beats people by body shots, constantly wearing them down. He didnt hurt Cotto with one shot, he wore him down and worked his body like crazy. I still dont think Sugar should stand and trade, but he isnt completely wrong when he talks about having more power in his punch.
Mosley has to box, move and tie Margi up if he still can from what we saw in the Mayorga fight! I'm hoping he's just playing promotion and mind games with Margi. Cause if he does try to stand toe to toe I don't hold out much hope for Mosley.
Mosley needs movement and to make Margarito miss, at this stage he lacks the stamina to keep that up for 12 rounds and is the reason why this fight is taken. I would pick Mosley to beat Margarito if he was in his prime, too much speed and great stamina, he's out of it now to keep that kind of activity up for 12 rounds.
I agree. Mosley is made out of steel but so is Margo's head. Mosley has to try and outbox him. Trying to slug it out for 12 with Margo can result in a (t)ko win for Margo imo (or possibly brain damage to Mosley). I think Mosley can pull it off if he sticks to the right gameplan. Shane UD.
Now that may be his undoing. He should be aware of his pros and cons versus a MArgarito. If he thinks he's stronger and a harder hitter, man, we'll c. I remember Cotto being the stronger man vs SSM. Cotto also matched Sugar Shane's speed.
