Roger Mayweather said that the way to beat FMJ is with the jab and the ability to close off the ring.

Mosley has the ability to close off the ring but I always felt that his jab was kind of lacking. He paws with it, doesn't try to really score points with it or bust faces with it, just tries to use it to set up the hooks.

Can he improve his jab? I have no doubt he can.

He tries to jab and he'll be badly countered. His best bet is to close the distance, cut off the ring, and bang that body.

Agreed. Sugar Shane has never been a jabber.

if he paws with his jab as he always does he will eat 1000000 right hands, I think the Jab is key but I wouldnt advise him to jab for the head of Floyds, I would advise him to snap his jab at that left shoulder in which floyds hand is down to his waist a couple rounds of that Floyds shoulder will give, I would also have him hit Floyd on that left bicep sooner or later Floyd himself will be a one armed fighter

He paws with it to set up the right or to throw combos but that's it. The jab is not the weapon of his primary arsenal, bodypunching esp. the left hook to the body is.

That's been one knock on my boy Shane when he moved up to WelterWeight. It seemed like he kind of aboned his jab after LightWeight. He used it in the first De La Hoya fight but after that it seemed like he tried to sit down and throw power shots and just flicker his jab out there like a range finder for power shots. Just like Emanuel Steward said he was suprised that Shane actaully had a good jab in the Margarito fight. Hell yeah he needs to bring his good jab back again, even in the Cotto fight Shane's dad was saying you have good jab, use it, you know?

Unless his opponent if coming at him in a straight line, Mosley does'nt use the jab effectively.
He uses it as a range finder and thats it.

There is just no snap or pop to it what so ever.......I'll even go as far as to say Mosley's jab is weak.....Mayweather is going to pop the right hand smack right over it, and then turn Shane.

Sounds like the man was going on the attack. I sure hope he does the same againsr PBF. I think Mosley has a good chance in this fight to **** him up. And wouldn't that be nice to see.

No. His speed, sizem, strength and ability to fight inside will be factors, but Shane's jab isn't good enough for it to be one. In fact, I think it would be a mistake for him to rely on it, not something I say often.

He can use it to find range, set up other punches, but using a bad or flicking jab against a great counterpuncher is asking for trouble. Shane should focus on getting inside and rough Floyd up and outworking him instead, in my opinion anyway.

Well your said to be only as good as your last fight and in Mosley's last fight he throw more good jabs then hes probablly thrown in his entire career. DLH had some success vs Floyd with the jab so im sure this is apart of Richardson and Mosley's gameplan.

He brought his jab back in the Margarito fight and it looked pretty fast and solid. He knows he'll have to use it and he's said they've been working on it in press conference interviews (the one tidbit info they've leaked out, no surprises though) so yes, it will be a factor.
