I've watched Mosley since his lightweight days and have always been a fan.. Fast, furious, workrate, stamina, technique, and yes he could even box.. But I keep hearing about Mosley being the biggest puncher in the welters ... Mosley has always been physically strong due to his weight training but he was never considered a big puncher since leaving 135.. Up until the second Vargas fight he wasn't getting any k.o.'s or hurting anyone.. That one ended from a perfect left hook to the body(mirrored Oscars win). Mayorga was exhausted and was halted in the final round, while it was a big punch I think exhaustion was the cause.. The Marg fight did seem like he was bangin hard but looks and actuality are two different things, Marg was drained after partying like a rock star following the biggest win of his career(see Leonard-Duran2).. And those are his big K.O victories as of late.. I believe he's physically strong, but not the big puncher he has been made to be as of late..
I'm not sure about that. But the welter division doesn't have any punchers and hasn't really had any in quite a while.. Marg had alot going on before that fight.. He's not the guy to drop you with a single shot.
Renyo good point...........Mosley can crack, but he doesn't have the same power that a prime mayorga had at 147!! His power is good but no great!!
Thanks Guapo.. Leon, Marg was an average puncher who used excellent workrate and pressure.. I'd say Cotto and Mosley were about equal.
Cotto is maybe the hardest body puncher at WW. Pac should be the hardest puncher generally because Cotto(pre Margo fight) was able to take Mosley punch well but was practically out of the fight after Pac hit him with this wicked punch for the second KO. Margo and Williams are volume punchers with average power. Berto is not a power puncher. Maybe Canelo can crack but who knows at this point.
