wasnt smart enuf to stay away from a chessmatch with Mayweather.... He should have kept up his attack, like in the first 2 rounds, not sure why he didnt hop all over PBF's **** in the 3rd round when he rocked PBF's world in the 2nd... acted like he had ALL TIME OF DAY to work with Mayweather... Thats definitely not intelligent
Never known to be a thinking fighter. Usually relied on natural ability. I knew against Floyd, he was doomed.
True. Ive always thought of him as great athlete with natural talents but not the smartest fighter out there. Ive never seen him make adjustments throughout the fight. His willinginess to take on all comers, I respect that, but if he had made better decisions, his resume would look alot better. He turned down 12million dollar for a 3rd oscar fight and fought Winky instead who's stylistically the worst opponent for him. Then he jumps right into a rematch without taking a tuneup and gets schooled again. I forgot about Forest, same things happened there. Without his natural talents and heart, i dont think much of him. NOt to be so harsh but Mosley is a dumb fighter.
HE's a bit of front runner too. He looks good when things are going his way but once he gets discouraged, he looks lost in there. And the way he paws with his jab instead of throwing them with authority always bugged the hell outa me for sum reason. He has the tendency to do that. He always hopping up and down like a nervous wreck, looking like a midget, especially against Floyd.
he puts toooo much trust in his power imo. When hes in a postion where hes getting outboxed, he doesnt formulate a gameplan that compliments a good ring IQ. Evident against wright, forrest and mayweather (3 great boxers though) But he Kos a vargas, margarito and outfights DLH
Always thought mosley was more fighter than boxer , and relied upon his power too often , the forrest fight really shown his limitations , can be intimidated by bigger men, but can also be out thought by them . Mayweather fight was typical he goes into a shell when getting hit back.
Definitely not a smart fighter overall but he does put smart punches together. I remember Wright was clowning around with him leaving his hands down and BAM! Sugar Shane hit him with a bodyshot. He has his moments of being smart but just couldn't solve the puzzle to fights not going his way.
I love sugar but as stated he was never a boxer he is a great brawler with a lot of hand speed and power so he will ALLLLWWWAAAYYSSS thrive in a fight but when it turns into a boxing match he is screwed
he is a supporter, stands behind his wife, behind his boy friend Oscar, and behind his train Naz . sort of like he has nothing to say. But I figured it all has to do with being caught with steroids years ago and he has to then come off as a non ego just to remain liked. Still think he is an average smart boxer.
Probably "above average" Ring IQ. He's attained great success using the style he has. However, he failed in rematches where he'd previously lost, so we can say his ability to adapt might be weak, though Winky and Forrest both were arguably problematic stylistically and sizewise for him in any case. Those mentioning the loss to Mayweather as an indication of low Ring IQ are misguided. It doesn't take a moron to lose to Mayweather, who has one of the highest Ring IQs in history.
I'm a very big SSM fan, but his natural abilities, warrior instinct and ego sometimes overwhelm his better judgment. For instance, I think if Mosley fought smart against Cotto, instead of trying to blow him out early, he would have beaten him. And would beat him every time. But, hell, that's why Shane's so damn entertaining!
