But not completely dominated. Oscar is an example of a smart fighter. Even though he has some losses against P4P the best, he was NEVER dominated, except when he was completely shot to hell. Most of the adjustments Mosley makes in the ring, when he has gotten better has been UPPED his attack. He's not very smart.
He has no answers or aadjustments when he is outfoxed smart fighters realize they are losing or not having go their way and change it up he did not do this vs Forrest or Wright or Floyd He relies on power and speed
Mosley has never been a smart fighter. When faced with real adversity he never seems to make adjustments. He has a low ring IQ IMO.
He's definitely classy and smart to compete right up there, which can also prove that Mayweather is super-smart. But smartness alone doesn't win against heart, commitment and great physical attributes.
He's not an intelligent fighter and never has been. He gets lured into his opponent's fight a lot of the times, and has paid for it. He's also not great at adjust ing mid-fight. A good game plan, and he can follow it, but if that plan gets foiled, he gets lost. Mayweather and Forrest proved that.
Really stupid thread, with alot of dumbass answers. Mosley has good ring IQ, if he didn't he would not have been able to fight into his late 30s, as he is well past his physical prime. In the past he has made adjustments against ODLH, Forrest, Mayo,Winky, Vargas and Cotto. Against Floyd, at age 38 he wasn't nearly as fast as he used to be and finally ran into someone who was not only as fast as him but much faster and there was nothing he could do.
What were they exactly? Not disagreeing, just interested in hearing a specific explanation of what you saw. Shane's the man.
-Against DLH, it was Oscar who failed to came an adjustment as a result Oscar lost. In their second fight, Oscar completely outboxed Mosley, and the only time when Mosley seemed to have the upper hand, was when Oscar tired after rd 9 as usual, and even then Oscar took 2 of the last four rounds. -Against Forrest I, Mosley made no adjustments. In teh rematch, he came with a different plan, but didn't adjust in the ring. -Against Mayorga, Mosley just did what he did, swung. He was the more gifted fighter, yet his inability to adjust made the fight very ****ing even up until the last 15 seconds of the entire fight. ODLH and Trinidad both dominated a fresher Mayorga. -Against Winky I, he didn't adjust, in teh second fight he came with a bit of a better game plan, but failed to adjust when it wasn't working. -Against Vargas I, Vargas was the stronger fighter before the fight was stopped...and in the rematch, Vargas could barely walk starigh up coming into the ring, that's how shot he was. -In the cotto fight, Cotto tired as usual in round 10, abd Mosley landed a nice body shot, but it wasn't any ad******g that helped Mosley, it was Cotto's stamina. Against Mayweather, he was completely embarrased. Speed didn't really beat Mosley, timing did.And Mosley couldn't adjust once again.
Mosley always seemed a slight bit slow witted. Naz even stated that Shane wants to fight so bad that he'll agree to anything, he made a joke suggesting that Shane would allow Mayweather family members to be ringside judges-if only two were allowed. I think he was hinting that Shane might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer. Maybe thats why his ex-wife was running the show.
He's got his intelligent craft. Not the smartest fighter in the world, but he has shown the ability to adjust against work class oppositin and also managed to draw up prety good gameplans in recent years.
Well Against Oscar, in both fights he came out trying to outbox the better polished boxer in Oscar, but in the 2nd half of both fights he lunges in & out and uses his superior speed to come from behind & win. Against Vargas he stood toe to toe, with the bigger stronger guy and won a tough fight, in the rematch, he used his legs and easily outboxed Vargas before getting the KO. Though he didn't get the win against Cotto, I thought he made a good adjustment by going forward late in the fight, instead of trying to dance on his toes, making it a very close fight.
There is a difference between being "smart" and "smarter" than another guy. That difference can mean an a$$ whipping.
