Numerous people have pointed out the size difference between Margarito vs Mosley and Pacquiao and you don't seem to take it into consideration. Yes, Shane KO'd Tony. He was the same size as him. Look at how well a younger Mosley peformed up at 154 and you may start to appreciate just what a huge size disadvantage Manny was fighting with, and how his performance was truly spectacular.

Shane may have been the first to crack Tony's beard, but I actually believe Manny's beatdown was more impressive. Margarito was completely focused on winning this fight and "restoring" his name. After getting caught with loaded wraps just minutes prior to his bout with Mosley, do you think his focus could have been 100%?

Margo was 50 lbs overweight before his training for Mosley. He's obviously weight drained. He fell from dehydration moreso than Mosley's shots.

Both were very good performances. Maybe Marg was better mentally versus Pac with the wraps controvery sort of behind him. But I'm not taking anything away from Mosley. It's possible Margo was somewhat drained vs Mosley, I heard some stuff about that, but it's impossible to know. Who knows if he wasn't a bit dehydrated vs Pac too. Still Margo held a much bigger size advantage vs Pac.

Pac didn't stop Margarito but he battered him. Mosley has more power, but he also put more of his body into the shots because he would hold Margo after a couple of them to avoid retaliation. Pac relied on his movement and speed to get away because he doesn't hold.

Both very different performances. Both impressive.

I agree. Had Shane not knocked out Margarito in brutal fashion, and instead had taken a Cotto like beating, the Manny fight would have never happened.

In Freddie's own words, he could not fathom a fight with Margo at that time. But, Cotto...he expressed that he would take in a heartbeat. Of course, after Freddie "saw his (Margo's) last two fights", the Margo fight became a reality.

I think Pacquiao's victory was more impressive and here is why.

With Mosley Margarita was notably distracted and preoccupied with the ramifications of what had taken place. Mosely also had the advantage with the perfect plan after studying the Cotto fight.

Pacquiao fought him while he was well rested with no distractions.
    Pacquiao was 17 lbs lighter.
Pacquiao starched him each and every round.
Pacquiao did not clinch but one time that I noted....he stood toe to toe on numerous occasions.
Pacquiao out punched him....including power punches.

Mosley fought Margarita based on the Cotto fight.
Pacquiao fought Margarita as Pacquiao would fight....on his own terms.
very impressive and more-so than the Mosley win!!!

yes but Marg had been caught with loaded gloves before the fight.that would of been a distraction during the fight thinking how much **** he was in.

Pacquiao outboxed him...Shane overpowered him. Obviously, they both applied techniques that cater to their strengths. Shane's win was more brutal, and therefore, more impressive, from that standpoint. Pacquiao's was more impresssive in terms of a display of pure skills. I enjoyed them both. But, Shane got Margo coming off his biggest win, having not been soundly beaten in years. For that reason, I give the nod to Shane.

All these excuses about his handwraps, his weight etc., in the Shane fight, are just that...EXCUSES. He was rumored to be weight drained coming into the Manny fight too, and attempting to cheat right before that bout, as well....and the spotlight was even bigger, with past controversy looming, as well. So, I am throwing out those excuses.

Shane beat the man, at the perceived peak of his career. Pac beat him, on the perceived slide.

That's a great point. Personally, I think both winning performances were great and the way each fighter executed their gameplan was exceptional. I don't think either man's win over Margarito should be diminished because of how the other guy got it done. The circumstances surrounding each win balance out for me- Pac was smaller, but Shane got there first and was older himself when he did it. And, as you said, Pac's was more skillful, while Shane did a better job of outmuscling him and dishing out a beat down.

Let's put it this way...even if Shane's got the edge and has the better Margarito victory (the argument can easily be made for that), Pac certainly performed well enough that it did nothing to diminish the hype of a Mayweather fight and he didn't give anyone a reason to suddenly not want to see that blockbuster. That was an important issue, because we all know that just winning wasn't enough- he had to dominate and just make it comparable to how Shane did it, and Manny did just that.

Are you SERIOUS? There was NOTHING lucky, about what Shane accomplished. He has been knocking out flat-footed plodding fighters, his ENTIRE career.

So what? Pac's goal was to come in FASTER...not the same size. Shane has been outweighed by at least that much in fights against the likes of Mayorga. Not to mention, the version of Mosely that fought Margo was 37 years old, while Margo was 30. Pac is 31, Margo is 32. You do the math.
