Mosleys win over Mayorga

I know people have written Mosley off due to his performance in this fight, most saying he shown signs of his age catching up to him etc.. The Mayorga fight seems to be used here on the forum as definative proof that Mosley is too old much slower to handle the likes of a Floyd Mayweather Jr who has much better boxing skills, quicker hands and more accuracey in his shots.

I just watched this fight again last night, and Mosley actually landed at a higher rate with cleaner shots through out the fight, and Mayorga did get his shots off as well, but if you look closer notice most of Mayorgas shots were on the biceps and arms of Mosley, not exactly what you would call scoring blows though there should be some credit given for those shots.

But what I did notice is the holding by Mayorga and there was plenty of it, its always going to be hard for a fighter to look good against a wild free swinging puncher like Mayorga who keeps moving forward and does not really give you time to set and counter Forrest another great fighter had this problem with Mayorga and he was knocked out as a result and lost a decison as a result.

lets also not forget that Mayorga was 170 on the night of the fight and with all that holding all the rough housing of course Shane is going to have his work cut out for him....
in the end Mosley knocked him out with seconds left in the fight but he did find a way to get the job done, against a Mayorga who had obviously adopted a newer boxing style for that fight, it seems Mayorga has learned a hard lession in not giving his opponents respect in fights against Tito and DLH he respected mosley and thats why he made it as far as he did.

So all of this Floyd is better than and is not no Mayorga your right he is not, but I can promise you this Shane will look much better in this fight even should he lose, simply because Floyd will throw more traditional shots rather than these wild clubbing shots.....

You put that same Mayorga in there with Mayweather and watch Floyd look no different if anything Floyd gets hit alot more when he takes Mayorga to the ropes especially when you consider those looping shots, those are the kind of shots that can score on Mayweather....

Very under rated win and I agree about the overstating of how bad he looked, Mayorga can make anybody look bad.

 

Really? you dont think the John Ruiz like Holding made the fight look ugly? Cus Mayorga did plenty of that, the fight was nearly a bar room brawl. that style is difficult for anybody to deal with especially when he switched it up a bit for the mosley fight and came in boxing more than slugging....

I disagree with you 100% but I also think your more than likely a huge Floyd supporter going into this fight with Mosley so you do not want to give any credit and why not, after all if you accept the reality surrounding this fight, then your hopes of shane being shot might not exsist.
