Hard to say, their accomplishments are completely incomparable ... the only common thing is that Tyson lost to Holyfield 2x while Toney TKO him.
Tyson, easily. I don't even see how this is worth discussing. James "split decision" Toney had tons of fights that were very close against decent or even mediocre opposition. He never looked unbeatable. He lost about every round against Jones in his prime when he was undefeated. Yeah, bring on the weight excuses, blablabla. Tyson in his prime was awesome and destroyed his opponents. Douglas beat him fair and square, but Tyson's run from 1986 to 1990 alone is worth more than Toney's entire career. When was the last time Toney was a 44-1 favorite? James is an excellent fighter with great survival and fighting instinct, but he's a step below Tyson.
At the other hand, Tyson quit may times and was shell of himself at the end loosing to McBride for example. Toney at the same age ... even unbelivelably fat is still titleshot worthy.
Toney. how many weight classes did Toney go up and at least hold his own in? Hell...Tyson didn't even have the stones to go up 1 weight class and test himself.
LOL, Toney easily. Tyson avoided the best, Toney fought the best...period. Plus Toney has heart and the ability to come back from a lossing position, unlike Tyson. The best fighter that was in his prime that Tyson beat was Frank Bruno and that speaks for itself, conidering Bruno was not elite nor great. Tyson has never beaten a great fighter that in their prime. Toney has beaten plenty such as Michael Nunn, Vasil Jirov and plenty of others.
agree man, Toney was fighting top guys every couple of months for a while there...he never bitched out like Tyson either, nor did he cheat trying to break guys arms etc....infact in the ring Toney is a clean and disciplined a fighter as you will see...ironically enough.
Riddock Bowe, peak Evander, peak Lewis, Tim Witherspoon, Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison ect. All of these fighters are better and more accomplished than the opposition that Tyson beat.
