First one that springs straight to mind is Joe Louis - and I showed the great fight between Archie Moore and Yvon Durelle to a boxing fan mate of mine recently for the first time and he kept remarking through out that fight on how accurate a puncher Archie Moore was aswell so that another one that springs to mind aswell

    Some dark horse picks:

Micheal Spinks never really wasted that much, especially in terms of his power-punches. he could be a bit economical, but he was still pretty accurate. The same holds true for Eddie Mustapha Muhammad.

Roy Jones, at his best, tended to land more often than not.

Hopkins continues to remain accurate with his punches. Virgil Hill even remakred "He always gets something, doesn't he?" when doing commentary during his fight with Joppy.

Harold Johnson and Charley Burley were two terrifically accurate punchers who tended to utilise similar styles to what PBF uses today.

Alexis Arguello is the best I can think of.

    Also Bernard Hopkins.

And I think Rafael Marquez is a really underrated puncher.

Good shotus on both Hopkins an Arguello.

I don't feel Rafa is underrated punching wise; I think it's clear to those who analyse that the man had serious pop as a Bantam, and appears to have carried it up. Although not as destructive at super-bantam (though that appears to have been to the durability of his opponent as much as losing pop) it seems he is still a clean puncher who turns his punches over very, very well (clearly Nacho's influence I'd say) if not quite as nice as his Brother IMO.

At Bantam I'd say Rafa makes the top ten punchers list, in terms of pure power (not quite up there with Zarate, Olivares, Zamora, but probably just behind Pintor). One thing I really liked about him (though it didn't lead to a stoppage) is the delayed reaction in the first round of the 1st Mabuza match.

he hits Mabuza, who gets disconnected from his senses and collapses in a heap. Both fights are good.

I do think as a whole Rafa gets a bit overrated. I'd put him in the 2nd/3rd tier of H2H Bantams.

Put it this way, I don't think he'd beat Khaokor Galaxy:lol::deal

That was my pick. Ive never seen a smaller guy hit his opponents on the disconnect button better. One of the most accurate counterpunchers ever.

His combinations as well. When he was fighting back, he'd throw one hook with enough vigour that it stunned his opponent long enough for him to get set again, throw the next punch right on the button and the next and the next; but in a way that was still fast and seamless and didn't leave oppurtunities for him to be hit back (and when he was hit back he had the chin, powers of recovery and composure to keep firing back sharp, accurate punches)

His looping uppercuts are amongst the best I've ever seen; Holyfield literally fights like a Superhero:lol:

Chavez vs Lonnie Smith is a great example. I don't think Chavez missed a single straight right in Rd. 11! The way he stalked Lonnie throughout the round and picked his shots was menacing.
