1988 Mike Tyson. If we look at the problem as "whose peak could be upgraded", then we realize that 1967 Ali can step up his punch. 1988 Mike Tyson has it all: footwork, speed, head movement, knockout power.... I don't know how 1988 Mike Tyson would have to train, or what illegal substances he would use, to improve what he already is. Not sure RJJ belongs in this HW story (I know he beat Ruiz).
Like, truly "athletic" - able to do a variety of skills that would reflect athletic ability, outside of boxing? Probably Roy Jones, who was known to play a decent game of basketball which requires about every athletic skill imaginable: explosiveness, speed, power, balance, ball handling, all while dealing with multiple opponents. Ali and Tyson were certainly well-conditioned and strong, but how well that would translate into other activities I can't really say. Not on the ballot, but a sure candidate: multi-sport athlete Ken Norton
Tyson sucked at basketball and wasn't a stand out at any sport except boxing. I'm sure a good coach could've found a spot for him on a football field though.
Ali got beat by a girl in a footrace in Rome. Tyson was laughed off the basketball court in Colorado Springs.
“I know I’m horrible” - Tyson Where as Rocky Marciano on the other hand played football even had a good try of baseball till his arm went stale. Supreme in all ventures.
I picked Muhammad Ali out of the three options provided. But it could have been someone else. There were a lot of very athletic men in boxing
I'm taking this thread to be pertaining to boxing only tho i could be wrong and it can sorta go two ways. Ali.
I have to say Ken Norton did boxing, football, baseball, basketball, track and was a weight lifter.. he won a bunch of awards in various sports in high school and college.
In fairness, the girl was Wilma Rudolph, the gold medal winner that year in the 100m and 200m … if you’re gonna lose, it’s good to lose to the best
