Duran took out Monroe Brooks with a single hook downstairs, and put out the steel chinned Vilomar Fernandez by going to the body with a right uppercut. Arguello did this to Royal Kobayashi with a hook, and Andy Ganigan with a double right uppercut to the pit of the stomach. (I still remember vividly the agonized look of screaming pain on Ganigan's face as he writhed on the floor from Arguello's solar plexus rip.) Ganigan finished off Sean O'Grady with a straight left to the body, and set up his knockdown of Arguello with a vicious right hook to the left side of the body.

Jack Dempsey put down Bill Brennan for the full count in their title fight rematch with some hammers to the bigger K.O. Bill's torso.

Arguello and Duran probably provide the most modern footage on how to put down a championship caliber opponent for the full count with a single right or single left to the body. They were both masterful sharpshooters who knew just when and where to place their bodyshots.

Shavers initially hurt Norton with a hook to the head, but it was a massive right to Ken's 225 pound body which actually resulted in the first knockdown. Considering the muscular physical specimen Earnie needed less than two minutes of one round to do this to, and the fact that Shavers did it, not with six or eight ounce gloves, but with TEN ounce pillows, suggests what deadly power Earnie carried into the ring that night. (Most of Foreman's legendary stoppage wins were with eight ounce gloves.) It's just more evidence that Shavers was the hardest puncher who ever lived. (Norton has famously rated Earnie over Cooney and Foreman in that department, just as Holmes and Tillis rated Shavers far over Tyson in the same respect.) That Shavers did not have more bodypunch knockouts is more a reflection of his lack timing and placement than any deficit in raw power.

DLH never saw X's hook coming downstairs, and bodypunch knockouts are commonly not seen coming by the target, just as is true with headshot knockouts.

Rodolfo 'El Gato' Gonzalez stated that 47 of his 71 KO's were from body shots. More specifically, a left hook to the liver.

Most of Nedal "Skinny" Hussein's stoppages came from his trademark left rip to the liver..I can hardly recall from all the ko's Ive seen from him live and on tape where he doesnt use to punch to stop the other bloke. I think of one, thats about it from the fights Ive seen.

Im fairly certain coming into the Larios bout his bro and trainer (co-trainer at the time from memory) Billy Hussein said in an interview that 19 of Skinny's 22 KO's came from that shot.

I reckon you could add at least 3 to that number for his post Larios fights...From the ones I witnessed anyway.
