I wonder what is considered more prestigious, a second tier WBA title or a vacant IBO title contested by two guys fighting two kilos above the light heavyweight to make it a Cruiserweight fight.
This kinda **** pissed me the F**K off......Bogus title? I hate Mundine but least he does stand in the ring and fight so anyone who wins any belt should have at least the respect of winning something without people calling it bogus. Are both the wins over great fighters HELL NO did they win a title of any sort YES! Have they fought any world class fighters YES...Mundine v Kessler (Mundine defeated but still his best fight) and Green vs Jones Jr (past it Jones but still a win) Calling the people they fight names is fine and sweet but saying they are bogus titles they won just because the won them a strange way is just bull****, Least they are out there doing it no matter what any of us think of them (including me)
On face value, the fighters are the ones copping the blame or being called frauds..... even though some are stepping up to their fullest potential,, whilst some others make a career out of shitful titles. If there's a current joke that takes all cakes, then look no further than 'Interim''.. 'Super champ'.. 'Regular'.. 'Champ in recess' and all the other loco bull**** lame arsed piles of **** that make the who's who of boxing a near impossibility to follow. Implementing these 'versions' of extra divisional titles is the most dramatic way to see the sport is nothing more than a monopolised business.. again, some clowns still believe it's a sport. People with any interest in boxing will understand what I mean... others will just say piles of snot in defence of their **** ant heroes. When a single governing body may have up to 3 World Champs in a single division, the question is begged.. Who's the champ??
I certainly see where you are coming from, and kudos to them for winning them in any case. But when these belts are considered bona fide world titles, it kinda diminishes the fully fledged title holders.
I really cant see how any boxing fan can agree with this. Maybe i miss understand your point. Support any title they pick up what so ever just because its a title? See this is part of what kills boxing, all the bull **** titles. When even the hard core fan have trouble working out who the champion is, what chance does a casual boxing fan or casual sports fan have? No wonder people just give up! I come from a way of thinking that there is ONE champion per weight. One true lineal champion. Whether he holds a belt or not or however many other belt holders there are, there is one champion and he is the man and that is all that matters. Any other bull **** belt is worthless and meaningless. It is dis respectful to past fighters who had to fight hard against good ranked fighters to get themselves in line for title shots against real champions to go around calling every bloke with a belt a champion. Michael Katsidis Danny Green Anthony Mundine Billy Dib Sakio Bika NONE of these fighters as much as i respect them all for stepping into boxing rings and as much as i am a fan of some on that list, none of these fighters have ever been a champion of the world and all of them at one point have held some sort of belt.
Taylor's WBF supermiddle title against a blown up Thai import whom he outweighed by like 4kg...and from reports he was claiming it aswell, calling himself a world champion when speaking to punters later on in the night.
out of the 2 definitely the green title because of who he fought against to win it and because its only the ibo
