What do you guys think was the most boring year for boxing?

I personally think it might be 2016. I can't remember a year being that boring since I started watching the sport in 2004. Anyone have any different opinions?

I liked 2016. Frampton v Cruz, Vargas v Salido, Lomachenko is always a beauty to see in the ring regardless of who he fights, Joshua's improvements are fun to track, Thurman v Porter was a good fight, Soto Karass v Kamegai, Gassiev vs Lebedev, Golovkin vs Brook wasn't a bad fight at all, tons more. I have no problems with 2016 at all.

I didn't feel that engaged in 2016...defintly a momemtum shift happening over the past 3 years with lots of household names leaving.

Lots of big names and great boxers all fighting pointless opposition as normal.

2016 did have Kovalev Ward, but that fight wasn't judged correctly.
I thought 2015 had enough big and medium fights in it where it was a fun year. I think one of the problems with 2016 was a lot of the better fights were on PPV, so that makes it seem like there were even less fights. Even then, those fights weren't worth paying full price for.

I think there were more pointless fights in 2016 than in any other year. I think every fighter was trying to be the replacement mayweather, not realizing it takes more than being undefeated to do so. Even then, there can only be ONE at a time. So you just had a bunch of guys trying to protect their "0".

98 and 99 were kind of lousy. 98 was only saved by Gatti vs Robinson I and II. 99 was saved from complete ignominy by Tapia vs Ayala plus Dereck Jefferson vs Maurice Harris a somewhat entertaining heavyweight scrap. 2016 had Salido vs Vargas, Thurman vs Porter, Santa Cruz vs Frampton I, plus you might throw Gonzalez vs Cuadras and Chisora vs Whyte in there too.

Correct . That was the reason I said 2016 ended badly . A very bad decision that hurt boxing and drove even more fans away from the sport .
2015 to me was just a letdown .

You said 2006 was a bad year but I think there were more fights you forgot.

    Lacy Vs Calzaghe
    Judah vs Mayweather
    Wright vs Taylor
    Cotto vs Paulie M

Maybe not the greatest fights, but it was big names fighting one another. Regardless, 2016 felt really lacking. Maybe it was because some of the better fights like Crawford vs Postol were on PPV and I didn't watch them because it was overpriced. Same with Canelo vs Khan. Not the worst fight, but had it been free it would make the year much more exciting for me.

FFS that was a mismatch of epic proportions and in no way what so ever was it a good fight, bloody terrible for the sport . Brook isn't even that good at 147

He was on the pound for pound list and considered by many to be the best welterweight. Also arguably gave Golovkin his toughest fight and impressed tons of people that night. Entertained loads of people.

Who would be stupid enough to argue Brook gave GGG his hardest fight ffs he didn't evendors make it half way?

I have never seen Brook on a p4p list? Brook is the total opposite of p4p, picks on small guys and struggles badly with limited guys his size as well as gets ktfo by guys bigger than him.
