I know it's an oxymoron, but George Foreman telling Dwight Qawi to quit in their fight as it got one sided got me thinking about other historical cases of humane stoppage winners. Any memories?

Joe Frazier trying to get Joe Louis to wake up and stop his second fight with Jerry Quarry. That was a pasting, at one point Quarry was basically knocked out and then back in while on his feet. Joe watched it like “sh*t happens”, although in all fairness Louis was probably a bit crispy himself at that point.

Old Foreman would hold back and ask the ref to stop his beaten and overmatched opponents (Ellis)

Judah kept asking the ref to stop the 2nd Spinks fight once he realized Cory was done.

Ike Williams vs Beau Jack …I’m not sure which fight it was in their series …but you can see Williams turn and look at the referee before the stoppage
