Here's a challenge for the experts and statisticians: which boxer has had the most consecutive draws (including NCs but excluding NDs) over the years? I don't know, but I wonder if someone else does.
I don't know, if this is a record - but in 1979 Argentinian bantamweight Heleno Ferreira had a streak of 7 straight draws. Young Farrell and Young Papke both had streaks of 5 draws.
I believe the last 8 or 9 fights of Jimmy Barry's career ended in draws. Then again they were mostly pre-arranged. He was never the same fighter after the death of Croot.
Jim Barry had the last 8 bouts in his career end in a draw. Also Joe Bernstein and Kid Young had streaks of 8.
Not Consecutive, but 29 in all, and 5 in the one year http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Human:10106 a great little fighter by all acounts, fought for a jnr world title, "rare" back then, and given that he was after Canzoneri and Co. and his Canadian up & coming rival McClarnin well it is conceivable that some of those draws could have been wins. plus his record probably isn't complete, so who knows he might just qualify - Vic Foley.
It looks like we have a winner. :happy Not the most exciting statistic, but I'd love to know what it's like to have that many draws and what it does to a boxer's mind. A draw is always a slightly strange experience and getting 9 in a row would be about as bizarre an experience as you can have in boxing.
