Most Consistent Performer: Lewis or Tyson

Lewis was out on his feet against McCall, the fight should of been stopped.

I voted Tyson because in their primes Tyson beat everyone decisively until Douglas then he was never the same & to be fair was never the same since splitting from Rooney & co..... Lewis however had some close shaves aswell as being KOd twice by McCall & Rahman.

If you look at their WHOLE careers from start to finish then obviously Lewis was more consistent because of the mess Tyson ended up in from jail onwards. Anyone who knows **** knows that was a man with mental issues impersonating one of the best ever HWTs.

 

To me Lewis was far more consistent. Consistency to me, means winning fights, not winning pretty, and longivity. On both fronts, Lewis takes it. If the question was who won more fights decisively, then I'd probably pick Tyson, but I also view Tyson's opposition as somewhat softer, so it made for more highlight reels. Certainly Tyson fights were more interesting to watch, but again, that's a different question.

Over the course of thier career's Lewis. He had the longevity.

Tyson was far more dominant as champ and his victories were always decisive but that is not what the question asks for. or is it?

 

Lewis faced iron chinned opponents like Tua, Mason, McCall I, McCall II Klitschko, Mercer, Holyfield I, Holyfield II, Mavrovic, Tyson and Tucker. That's 11.

Tyson by comparison, faced Green, Thomas, Tucker, Holyfield I and Holyfield II... that's 5. Make what you want of that.

I agree on Holmes. He didn't have a granite chin, but the entire package - survival skill, recuperative ability, being hard to hit, etc, made him almost impossible to stop.

Spinks i wouldn't add, though. His chin is rather untested at heavyweight. Holmes, a good but not great puncher had him staggering and Tyson put his lights out easier than he did any heavyweight since he nearly took Marvis Frazier's head off!

 

He certainly got the attention of Golota, Ruddock, Grant, Botha and Morrison. :yep
