Most Consistently Robbed Fighter?

In the more modern day the sheer size of Whitaker's two robberies vs Ramirez and Chavez make him stand out substancially. A close one vs DLH too. Two definite robberies in HUGE fights is hard to take.

Ken Norton, Pernell Whitaker, Ike Quartey.

Norton beat Ali every time they fought. The third Norton/Ali fight is one of the most famous gift decisions Ali has received. The first two were close, but there's no way Norton lost that third fight.

Pernell Whitaker and Ike Quartey were both robbed of decisions against the Golden Boy, prrobably due to Oscar's popularity. Pernell also clearly beat Julio Cesar Chavez and Ike Quartey was robbed against Vernon Forrest.

Lewis vs Holyfield I and Leonard vs Hearns II deserve to be mentioned with the above.

 

Larry Holmes deserves a nod for the two Michael Spinks fights.

 

I had him winning the second fight as did most others I've spoke too.

I think Ali recieving many gift decision is a myth.

 

I thought Holmes lost the first Spinks fight, the call was right.

Robbed against Galvian, Davey, Saxton, among others. I mean if he didnt ko Demarco, that could have been other highway robbery.

 

i thought so too, i had spinks winning the first fight by two rounds.... i then had holmes winning the rematch by about two rounds.

 

You think all of those fights were won by the opponent so decisively they can be labeled robberies?

I believe both the Jimmy Young and Shavers fights to be fairly close on the scorecards. Not robberies.

It's also laughable how some try and discredit Ali because of how close these fights were. He was past his prime when all of them occured, especially for the Shavers fight.

 

No one is discrediting Ali for how close those fights were, but fact is that if his name was Average Joe, he would've lost at least one or two, if not three of those fights (Norton III, Young & Shavers), which indeed would've made him perceived to be a bit less great.

 

I dont think Jimmy Young was robbed against Norton OR Ali.
Both him and Ali deserved to lose that joke of a title fight.
I thought Norton edged him.

I dont see the attraction Jimmy Young holds for some people. Even if he deserved the win against Ali, that was the worst version of Ali you'll ever see anytime prior to the Holmes fight 1980. Easily as bad, and probably worse, than when he lost to Leon Spinks.
