It's true in the case of Cuevas.

With the others, there were other factors:

Leonard had the detached retina and was off for a few years. Benitez was overpowered by Hamsho. Hagler had a long layoff after the Hearn's fight and was aging.

Duran was able to regroup and still win a 160 lb title years later.

I don't think Hearns "ruined" any of the above except Cuevas. And the damage to Cuevas was largely psychological.

Prolonged beatings ruin guys physically. Quit blowouts usually don't.

Duran was never the same after Hearns. Hagler took a year off because of Hearns, and he was never as sharp as in that fight. Benitez. you might be right. Benitez fought well. Leonard? I think the retina had to do with Hearns.

Hearns getting knocked out by Barkley sort of diminished him. He was never the same. Not really.. The Hagler fight did not hurt him as much as Barkley. maybe Roldan also helped.

I always thought the Hearns fight took a little bit from Marvin and the slightly diminished skills from that led to Marvin being easy to hit in that 11 round fight with John Mugabi, which I think took more our of Marvin than all his other fights combined. Marvin had a granite chin but he took some really big shots from John Mugabi and I thought that should've been the last fight for him.

Roberto Duran wasn't ever the same fighter when he left 135. Absorbed a lot of punishment a the heavier weights; real testamount at how great Roberto actually was with the success he had against compettition that was much bigger than he was.

Roberto Duran is the only fighter that ever beat Sugar Ray Leonard in his prime. I would state that Sugar Ray Leonard was without a doubt one of the most dangerous fighters ever.
