My initial vote goes to Riddick Bowe's jab on Evan Fields in the 10th round of their first matchup in 1992.

Reasons? Commander Vander is unanimously regarded as very robust on this forum, he was at the peak of his physical powers (29 years old), he was at the peak of confidence (being undefeated HW champ) and in he was maximally motivated (knowing Bowe was his best opponent to date).

By the 10th round he was very tired and Bowe was getting the best of him. Nevertheless Holyfield was in pretty good shape and the jab that started the 10th round onslaught (at about the 10 second mark) was an abolute beauty - almost knocking him senseless on its own!!:bbb

Can anyone think of more devastating single HW jabs??

I expect Liston and Holmes to get a few mentions...

This isn't even a contest. Sonny Liston knocked Wayne Bethea (who had never been stopped before and never would be again) out with a jab less than a minute into the first round!

    I like it mate!

But to play devils advocate for a moment, was Wayne Bethea equivalent to the '92 version of Holy that Bowe fought??

Hmm... doesn't look much like him. Oh well, my eyes might be going bad.

Where did you get the avatar from?

    Oops, Sonny and Holmes.

Some of that jabs that George Foreman landed on Evander Holyfield would look like it could shoot Evander Holyfield's head out of its socket....
.....much bigger and heavier jabs imo than the ones Bowe landed on him.....the difference however is that Foreman was to slow to follow it up......

.....Btw, Foreman is such a freak of nature as far as his power is concerned, that more than once, I've heard Evander Holyfield say that Foreman was hurting him even with shots he was blocking!:yikes

I'll single out two types of jabs.

The type of jab which isn't particularly quick or free flowing, but moved an opponent back a few steps because of the weight behind it: Foreman and Liston.

The other kind was thrown from various directions (waist and shoulder) was extremely quick, was used as a point scorer, had a high output, with sufficient consequences: Holmes and Ali.
