Didn't expect much but i didn't think he'd be pummelled like that against someone like Breland. Lloyd became shot pretty quickly in fact. He was never much after the Starling loss.
Duran ???? in Leonard 2, could not figure out what happened to the warrior...Ali/Holmes...Ali had us all bullshitted that he was in top shape and ready to step up but he was completely shot.....When a guy you know does not have like a young undefeated prospect(who never really beat a live guy) or a kid that could have it but gets rushed gets exposed, to me both cases are a waste of time
I must admit, but I was bummed when Litzau got knocked out by Hernandez. There was something about Litzau that I liked and I wanted to seem him succeed. Unfortunately, it doesnt seem like he will, at least as a fighter.
I have a couple of memories, closesly related. I still shake my head and cringe when I watch DelaHoya vs Whitaker and DelaHoya vs Quartey. Hearing those two decisions that I still consider gifts for Oscar, left bad tastes in my mouth for the weeks ahead.
Herol Graham blowing it against Jackson. And pissing about with Maccallum with his arms by his sides and dropping a split decision. Both fights could've been won. Coulda, woulda, shoulda!
My memories are more recent. When great fighters lose to less great fighters i get a bit dissapointed, like Lewis getting stopped by Rahman. And after beleiving both Shane Mosley and Jones Jr were the very best p4p and unbeatable seeing them being beaten by the likes of Forrest and Tarver...ugh... like finding out Father Christmas isnt real.
Waiting for the big showdown between James Toney and Roy Jones about a decade or so ago, only to find on fight night that Toney came in about 10 lbs. over his ideal weight and got taken to school. But back when I was a kid and I saw my first Heavyweight Championship fight, between Floyd Patterson and I think the challenger's name was Bill McMurray? Ring a bell? Two punches and it was over. Floyd walks out and lands a hook to the tall challenger's chin that sends him to the canvass for the eight. Gloves are brushed, and Floyd does it again, the same hook to the same chin and it's over. Could have counted for a long, long time.
