I really thought David Reid was going to be a great fighter. That eye and horrendous beating he took from Tito really changed things for him.

Luke Campbell, although he was around during 2 very strong eras, he's one of the best fighters to never win a world title.

I think Henry Tillman could have or should have done a bit more.

Howard Davis jr the only medalist from the 76 Olympic team that never won a world title.

Both him and Damiani were real underwhelming as pros, though Damiani wasn't a gold medalist.

Ed Sanders probably takes the cake, albeit for very tragic reasons.

He's famous for (almost literally) chasing Ingemar Johansson out of the ring for a gold medal. However, he failed to distinguish himself as a pro & after a rather brief career, died as a result of injuries from a KO loss.

He definitely did better than Biggs, but it still is disappointing to see him not do much more than beat decent opposition and then fall off after the Mercer loss.
He seemed so awkward, but yet at the same time so strong and skillfull.

Howard was considered the jewel of that team (Leonard wasn’t expected to gold and was obviously a very special prospect coming out of Montreal, but Howard was considered the lock for future HoF type status going in and coming out of the Summer Games).

I don’t think he had a bad career, really. Early on, he was clearly ahead of Leonard as far as moving up the ranks more quickly against better opposition but at some point along the way, Ray really became a professional — learned how to use his hand speed, how to sit down on his punches, developed killer instinct … and Howard really kept more or less being a very fast and flashy amateur fighting in the pro ranks.

I still like watching Davis fight when I dial up something from time to time, but he never blossomed as a pro.

And as good as Leonard was, Michael Spinks was probably equally well suited for adapting to the pro game and was a generational fighter.

    Andrew Maynard.

Really thought he would win a World title but those losses to Bobby Czyz and Frank Tate ruined him.

Hearns finished him for good but still fought on.

Looked so good in the 1988 Olympics to end up with a 26-13 record as a pro.
