Rampage does have a stellar chin and certainly I can see a point that Shields did not take that knee well. From my angle though I thought a fair bit of neck was struck by that knee and it is premature or possibly incorrect to call someone china chinned from such a nice plum / knee combo. Of course people with more than six years of Muay Thai can discern such differences.

This is one of the most pathetic attempts at backtracking and Glass Jaw denial that I have ever seen in my life.:patsch

If a guy has you in the Thai plumb and snatches you down into a knee that breaks your nose in seven places a la Silva/Franklin, that's about as hard as it can ****ing get. If you've just had your head nearly twisted off of your neck from an uppercut and then get pushed into a ringpost and pummeled with dozens of knees to the head with no avenue for escape like where Rampage found himself against Rua, that's again a situation that's as bad as it gets and far worse than changing levels and getting clipped once.

You are a complete ****ing idiot and a hard-headed, stubborn denier that cannot be helped if you are really going to sit here and argue that getting KOed by one knee to the face is somehow more impressive or shows a stouter Chin than being obliterated for minutes on end in the Thai plumb. Shields didn't go down because "that knee woulda KOed anybody", he didn't go down because he changed levels for a shot, and it certainly had nothing to do with whether he was on offense or defense. It did, however, have EVERYTHING to do with the fact that he doesn't have as good a Chin as either of the guys I named. If you want I'll go search through the archives and find you numerous examples of fighters who dove in on takedown attempts, ran into knees, and survived to not only complete the takedown but also win the fight. Shields has no Chin, none, and that is irrefutable.

You're a desperate dumb**** that's really reaching and failing miserably and that much is clear by the fact that a guy who hates me, PIRA, can't even bring himself to agree with you.

Ah, so you're a selective reader, I see. Read the parts that you can pick at while ignoring other parts that are a bit more difficult (especially when combined they make moot what you're trying to say).

Breaking someone's nose is a bit easier than breaking someone's jaw. Perhaps you should read again or get someone to read it for you.

Not all knees are created equal. Silva hit Franklin VERY hard but he got him square in the face (also known as his nose), which, since you're such an expert (perhaps not a real expert but a self-proclaimed one) you would know that it's not a hot spot for knocking people unconscious.

Oh, so it's because he doesn't, in your eyes, have as good a chin as them, so they're the barometer by which all other fighters are measured? I didn't know that! Pretty sure we're talking about Jake still being conscious after taking one of the more cleanly executed and devistating knees I've ever seen in the context of MMA. Of which you said he was "china chinned." Pretty sure staying conscious after that is fairly remarkable.

Context matters. Your "irrefutable" comment... just because you say it, and you can, and probably will, say it over and over again doesn't make it true. Although you can wish really hard.

Yes, they "ran" into knees. Most of them didn't get pulled into a knee which was wound up from as far back as is possible thus giving him the maximum amount of force possible using correct body kinetics.

False equivalents. It's a slippery slope, and you're almost at the bottom.

    The irony is overwhelming.

I had to get that in. I don't think Overeem is going to be any better as a heavyweight as he was at 205. He may beat a top guy here or there, he did get a win over Belfort, but I think he will lose to more of the top guys than he'll defeat.

I do think Stoo, and the others, nailed this with Cro Cop. Cro Cop was viewed by many, myself included, as the uncrowned UFC champion when he joined the organization. So much for that.

Whoever bought into the Toney hype needs their head checked. Everyone knew Randy was going to take him down and beat the **** out of him.

King Mo done his best telling us all how good toney was on the ground and how strong he was but again whoever bought into that needs their head checked.
