Larry Holmes losing against a handpicked Michael Spinks who was having his first fight ever at heavyweight at the age of 29. This was the fight that Holmes was going to equal Marciano’s 49-0 record and everything was stacked in his favour which made the huge upset loss all the more embarrassing.
This one is up there... This content is protected Not quite as bad as Nate Campbell v. Paden, though. Overcondfidence kills.
Foreman's commentary nailed it. He said Lewis stopped jabbing. He said that Lewis better start jabbing again or he was going to get hit with a right hand. Less than a minute later, Lewis was sprawled on the canvas again from a single right hand.
Bucksmith KO ing Kirkland Lang .Was heading for a title shot against Breland .Bad night on the BBC !!!
Adolpho Washington getting KO'd by a camera Washington was putting up a spirited attempt at Virgil Hill for the world title and had a bit of a cut. Around the 9th or 10 between rounds an overzealous cameraman wants a closer look at the cut while Washington is on his stool and he rams the camera right into Washington's wound, worsening it and causing the fight to be stopped. Boxrec has it as a tech decision but for some reason I recall it as a stoppage. Anyways, bad luck for Washington.
Former welterweight champion Andrew Lewis retiring (ahead on all cards) in the 7th round against Denny Dalton - because he needed to go to the restroom! Can't get much more embarrassing than that.
Honeyghan was quick ,but Curry was having problems outside of the ring, which probably affected Donald's performance. And Bernard could have done better, especially since stinking up the joint in his initial challenge vs Pedroza.
Holyfield vs Toney was worse again. Holyfield looked like garbage against Toney. His punches had nothing on them, his defense was putrid, his legs gone and he was battered by a heavyweight he would've wiped the floor with a few years earlier (no knock on Toney who is a great fighter but not a great heavyweight and certainly not in Evanders class as a heavyweight). It was sad more than embarrassing.
[QUOTE="Gatekeeper, post: 19696750, member: 46464" Roy Jones vs Glen Johnson - Roy getting KO'ed by a guy he would have schooled in his prime, suppose you could say the same about the Tarver KO Danny Williams vs Vitali Klitschko - Danny was never in Vitali's league but all the extra weight he had gained meant he could barely move, a total mismatch which was painful to watch[/QUOTE] Came in here to post these 2 fights. I remember the Danny Williams fight like yesterday. Williams is one of my all time g.o.a.t.s...that fight was painful to watch. I mean i knew Vitali would win but i also thought Danny would give him some problems. Poor blokes nerves where in pieces..i felt for him that night. Respect bro.
David Haye never fought Tony Thompson let alone lost to him perhaps you're thinking of David Price and De La Hoya was 2 divisions smaller than Sturm, it was a close fight the wrong man won but it was not one sided.
I hate admitting Ra is right about something, but David Haye did get stopped by an old Carl Thompson.
Haha, yes that was ****ing stupid of me, Thompson stopping Haye feels so long ago I'd almost forgotten about it, my mistake.
