no doubt ali was entertaining. but, tyson was must watch tv [yt]hx66LWV-CCk[/yt] a natural shite talker :good
well, for a start, the Wlad comments were basically to express just how boring Ali was, not how exciting Wlad is. Wlad is incredibly boring. and it's even worse when you consider who he's in the ring with. it's terrible. Lewis vs Tyson wasn't a clinch fest the whole night. Tyson was rushing at Lewis in the first round so he was tied up. Holyfield did the same to great affect. in round two, Lewis got his timing down and beat the **** out of Tyson. and there's two reasons why it went 8 rounds: because of Tyson biting Lewis' leg in the lead up, and the other being that Tyson had a great chin. Lewis put on a master class. end of story. it's not Lewis' fault that Tyson was so scared to face him earlier in his career. a bit like Bowe. with you coming from New york, it must hurt to know that two of the biggest names at the weight at the time, decided to be a ***** and duck rather than face off against Lewis. so i'm not surprised you have hate for him. :yep Lewis vs Tucker got lower ratings than Golf? what the **** has that got to do with how exciting the fight was? :huh yes, Lewis should have thrown more in the Tua fight. i acknowledge that. it was pretty boring. :good
I don't really get why he took so long with Wepner, he had enough power to beat the tomato can into submission, yet didn't do anything until Wepner dropped him/stepped on his foot.
Not according to the OPs measure. Tyson beat very weak opposition in his early yrs. Spinks was legit, but was no better than Adamek. Ali is by far the most entertaining, and his win over Foreman was by far the most entertaining WIN by a HW champion in history. Lewis with his win over Vitali and Marciano's win over Louis rank a close 2 and 3.
Holyfield was never in a dull fight. Holyfield-Qawi 1&2 Holyfield-Bowe Holyfield-Mercer Holyfield-Tyson Holyfield-Moorer Awesome fights just to name a few.
atsch You do realise Vit 'lost' to Lewis on an eye injury opened up in clinches via dirty boxing, he wasn't knocked unconscious out the ring ala Marciano and JL. That is a real win and not bull**** via a useless referee.
In terms of pure excitement, surely Mike Tyson is in the top spots, and probably the number one. He didn't just have a thrilling, mad, original, exploding style, but also a bizzarre and cotroversial behaviour outside the ring. Anyway, even the matches in wich he went to distance and couldn't do much are thrilling, because all of the action he could provide was in short distance, and even when he did not win, he often got koed, so excitement were also provided. At the number two i would say Evander Holyfield, for his heart and his aggressive/versatile style, he really was a warrior, in spite of his body disadvantages. I just cannot understand the ones that says Ali was exciting... to the contrary, he had a low k.o. percentage, so many of his fights were decided at points, plus his style consisted mainly in floating around the opponent, at the limit of his reach, adsorbing the eventual blows, and once in a while unload a sequence of flurries threw while off-balance, the kind of shots every trainer discourages the kiddos to do for they uselessy. So, eventually, Ali was exciting for his countless controversial episodes, the rants, the crazy interviews, the aggressions, the unstoppable thrash talking, his racist declarations maybe, but for his ring actions, often the only way to make his fight entertaining is to cut the sporadic good pieces and to make a youtube movie, which is one of the reasons some peoples thinks he was powerful, fast, or reactive. I remember at the beginning of his career peoples disliked his style for being so reluctant to hit, and that he was known for spending entire minutes "not fighting at all".
Ali was awesome to watch, fastest footwork and handspeed of the division. :good Maybe the guy in your Avatar could use some excitement in his fights.
I think C.S is right here. Ali his style just isn't that exciting. (The "dancing" around while at a safe distance, moments without punching that are too long, too often) His extreme hand and footspeed are not a factor in deciding if he is exciting when his style is boring to begin with. If Ali fought like Marquez would, he would have been a much finer fighter to watch, especially if he threw outside uppercuts . Maybe sometimes using a right hand feint to a body and unleashing a left hand uppercut on the outside. Your second point is useless because Wlad being boring is no justification for Ali being boring.
