Not because of the champions. Because of abundance of good challengers: Sergio Martinez, Alex Bunema, Alfredo Angulo, Joel "Love Child" Julio, James Kirkland, John Duddy, Ronald Hearns, Vanes Martirosyan, Joe Greene, Deandre Latimore, Julie Cesar Chavez Jr.
Its still one of the weakest currently. But it has GREAT potential to be one of the best in the not-too-distant future. :good
118: Mijares, Darchinyan, Arce, Mijares Donaire etc. 122: Vasquez, Marquez, Lopez, Molitor, Caballero, De Leon, Penalosa, Gonzalez, Bautista, etc. 135: Campbell, Diaz, Casamayor, Marquez, Pacquiao, Guzman, Valero, Katsidis, etc. 147: Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Clottey, Cintron, Mosley, etc. Now take your pick.
+168: Kessler, Bute, Taylor, Mundine, Andrade, Bika, Miranda, Froch, Inkin, Pascal, Dirrel, Balzsay, Green, Ward, Lara, Zuniga, Lacy. You can add Calzaghe, Jones, Pavlik, Abraham, Wright, Hopkins and even Dawson as they all can make 168... For the present, 147, 135 and 118 are terrific. But not too many young fighters there. The future is bright for 130 (Linares, Guerrero, Gamboa, Mitchell, Antillon, currently Juarez, Barrios, Soto, possibly moving up John, Luevano, maybe JuanMa in the future.) Also, the future of 154 looks very good, imagine Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Clottey all moving up, DLH, Mosley still fighting there, also Angulo, Martinez, Forrest, Kirkland, Dzinziruk. But the division where both the present and the future is A+ is 168... huge talent pool!
it is no the most exciting but it is deffo a HOT PROSPECT division thats for sure theres alot of young talented fighters that have the possiblity to become BIG
147 is where all the best fights will be made...154 pounders can go down to 147 and 140 pounds can go up to 147.
