Chacon. As Danny Lopez became world famous, Bobby had this aura of having stopped him the way he did. Any right hand he flung towards an opponent could make him dance a wild jig (as it did in his first classic with Boza Edwards). After Arguello and Boza Edwards stopped him, boxing magazines were publishing his pugilistic obituaries. Instead, Schoolboy reversed his career in the craziest way, losing only to a peak Mancini after turning 30, possibly in a premature stoppage against he who had the weight of the Kim tragedy on his ledger. (Get this: Boom-Boom, at just age 22, never won another fight, while Chacon, at 33, would never lose again.) It just wasn't predictable which Bobby would show up. After beating Roach, Montana, Frias and Solis in 1985, a final title shot at 135 for a last big payday would have been no outrage, and would have made good business sense from a promotional standpoint.

In my lifetime I don't think there's been a more exciting fighter, when anticipation, ring entrance and fulfillment of anticipation are taken into account, than Mike Tyson circa 86-88.

No, peter5..I'm with you on that one...that's a great description of Limon.lol..a very apt description..the guy was a favorite of mine back then..he had no technique at all, threw arm punches, was sloppy, yet I loved the guy..he was tough as hell and a crowd pleaser!:thumbsup

It was just one of those nights...Fernandez just fought his career best fight..afterwards he said "he tried to knock me out, and he couldn't"...but Arguello showed what a great fighter he was in winning the rematch, with a knockdown to boot.
You're on the money about Limon, BTW.

I must agree with the mention of Tyson, and I'm sure he's been called, but Roberto Duran, of course.

    :-

It's a knee-jerk reaction, bb, whenever the most exciting fighter is discussed, Graziano's ALWAYS the first one that comes to mind for me. Just sayin' his name is like a shotta Red Bull.

Oh there are so many - but I guess the ones that spring to mind straight away from my own era would be Nigel Benn, Tommy Hearns and Arturo Gatti
