Most Exciting or Entertaining Fight involving a British boxer?

I know, I was being tactful. Dunky gets touchy over Scottish fighters.

IMHO Jacobs was a very good Euro level fighter (in the days when that was a decent achivement) but didn't beat any genuine would class fighters (and lost to a few less than world class opponents) in what was admittedly a pretty stacked division.

 

To be honest folks, the beer got the better of me last night. I got home, was incredibly thirsty & started sinking Holsten pils, & before I knew it I was getting all teary eyed & misty about scottish fighters again
Im ok tonight though, & in hindsight I was wrong to big up Gary jacobs quite so much, saying that he did better than hatton when he faced the very best. Its a good argument, but as has been said, Gary didnt get that defining win, I suppose I was just saying that in the grand scheme of things, when you seen what happened to guys like Jennings when they fought Cotto, Lockett when he fought Pavlik, it makes Jacobs performances all the more incredible, when he was holding his own in the USA against the likes of Buddy McGirt & Pernell whittaker.
There aint many that go over there & handle themselves like Jacobs did, & for that reason alone, hes a bit of a forgotten man nowadays, when many lesser fighters get talked about more fondly.

Thats just the way it is though as Bruce Hornby once sang, & I aint trying to belitte Hatton, I was just saying that not many fighters from these shores came as close as Jacobs did to greatness, & thats that really!

 

Dont get me started on Craig McEwan Dan, I could talk about that laddie all night long
To cut a long story short, I think he has the potential to become a scottish great. Buchananesque defence, such a good switch hitter that Freddie actively encourages it, a solid chin & a willingness to learn. A move to light mid should be the icing on the cake, & I expect Craig to be the next flagbearer of scottish boxing, after the teak tough tartan terror & my hero, Scotty Harrison.
many have tried, & many have failed to match Scotty Harrison, but this is how much I rate Craig McEwan, I expect him to surpass Scotty Harrisons ring achievements.
Scotty could have been the best scottish fighter ever if booze hadnt beaten him, a win over Marquez or Guzman would have cemented it. Craig McEwan? I think he has the potential to get that defining win that could push him above every scottish boxer that ever lived.
