He took some hellacious shots from Hagler and kept going. I think Hagler ruined him though.

    Johnny du Plooy.

The dude had some great KO's (check out where he blasts Broad throguh the ropes) but he didn't fancy the incoming too much. In his fight against Bey he wanted to quit the round before he knocked Bey out

    YES!

I've met Eddie, really nice guy, watched him perform live for the first time back when he was still undefeated (nearly a decade ago!) on the Mike Oliver vs. Rey Lopez undercard (I sat two rows behind Joe & Teddy) and remember being guardedly optimistic that we might have produced a KO artist to rep the Commonwealth and go on to make some waves on the national scene, maybe headline some ESPN cards or something...and then a very short time later it turned out the chickens had indeed been counted before they hatched.

Total glass cannon. If we fought I'd be reasonably sure of putting him to sleep if my fists got there first, but would be worried about him getting in the first lick.

Ya, he really is a GREAT dude. MASSIVE puncher and total glass chin and complete disregard for defense. I really admire the dude, very tough, and he goes in there strictly to go to war and kill or be killed. He KO'd a friend of mine, Chris Traietti who fights out of Quincy. Very solid local circuit fighter, obviously not a world beater but a decent scalp for Eddie, and Joe Smith Jr. turned out to be a very good scalp. Fought some very hard punchers too like Denis Grachev.

Warrior mentality. Sending someone home on their shield or he is going home on his. To top it off you'd be hard pressed to find a legitimately better overall person in professional boxing.
