For the record, my Colombian American friend I was talking about - he'd been boxing since he was 6 years old in Reading, PA., and even after 20 years of boxing still couldn't grasp these simple nuances of the sport and habitually made defensive mistake after mistake, but the gym was never louder than when he was sparring someone because the kid threw missiles and had a nightmare of a chin.

There are some classic boxing afficianados whose heads will spin at my suggesting this, but IMO, one of my all time favorite fighters, Earnie Shavers, fits into this category.

Also, Tommy Morrison, if he hasn't already been given a shout out.

Bob Satterfield was probably the ultimate glass cannon.

Kudryashov is a prototype for this

THE prototype. Like the perfect, present tense evolution of the glass cannon. His power is so immense and his chin and defense so bad that they both move the goalposts and stretch both ends of the spectrum to new limits. Crime scene - for good or bad - every time he steps in the ring. He will be embarrassingly KO'ed time and time again and produce just as many savage KO's. The Arlovski of boxing. Unfortunately, I think the number of highlight reel KO's he's on the receiving end of is gonna keep him from having too many open and vocal fans.

Agreed on all counts, and it's a damn shame being on the end of knock outs is something that makes some people not want to openly be fans. I'll never miss a fight of his.

If I was building any fight card, I'd do everything I could to get Kudryashov on the undercard. Win or lose, those fans are going home happy they saw a crazy knockout.

Totally agree. I'd much rather go out on my shield than quit or tap.

Rahman's chin isn't as bad as you claim though. He still stood up to bombs from Tua and Sanders without going down (IIRC the Tua stoppage was on his feet in protest, he arguably beat Tua in the rematch). And I think most of Rahman's stoppages came mid-late rounds.

I'm not going to say he had a granite chin because he didn't but it was far from glass.

    John Mugabi for me.

39 KOs in his 42 wins, knocked out in 6 out of his 7 losses.

Yeah I think for me the memories of the scare with Zuri (and being rocked a few times by fat old middleweight James Toney) have just stuck out.

Chins are sometimes weird things. I didn't think Jacobs would go 12 with GGG since Pirog flattened him but Jacobs made it the distance. Meanwhile, Pirog bounced shots off of Ishida's head for 12 rounds and couldn't hurt him, while GGG blasted Ishida into a 1000 count in the 3rd round.

Plus Rahman did a Superman through a car windshield and survived it so he's gotta have at least an average chin.
